Sorry if this is in the wrong place .... BUT can anyone reccomend a nice CLEAN hotel in the Clearwater beach area? Close to the beach..... We will be heading over there for a few days but do NOT want to spend big $$ for a room.
Suggestions?? TIA

I am soooo disapointed with Clearwater beach hotels.. They had a ton, now most are million dollar condos. I really am not sure about the little motels, the Hilton is nice, umm theres a Days Inn, Quality Inn, Best Western Sea Stone or Sea wake.. i fotget which., i got married at the Adams Mark on Clearwater beach, which is not there anymore grrr! But my guests stayed at the ones i mentioned. Also on Sand Key PArk down the strip is the Marriott but they want like way over 200 a night. Good luck!

Marriot Sand Key,Radisson Sand Key-both gorgeous but a bit pricey....Quality Inn on the Beach affordable-just renovated rooms...flat screens etc..right on Beach and walk to everything..all the others are mediocre, run down rooms..real spring break area..

I am finding just about all the places are over 200 a night. This trip isn't going to be so focused on Disney :rolleyes1 DH will be on deployment next year so we really want to relax and enjoy and NOT stress. Are there any condos that will rent on a nightly? Doubt it but worth asking, there are 7 of us all together. DH, DS, DD7 & DD6,and grandparents. I personally don't want to drive an hour and 20 min each way just to go to the beach.
Thanks for the info, I will check out the ones you have mentioned.

Thanks Kathy, I will look into these as well. Would you put the area in the same group as Seaside Heights, NJ? We used to love going there as kids but it is well..... run down. :sad2:

We have stayed at the Best Western Sea Wake - it is very nice and under $200. Also, my daughter and parents stayed at the Doubletree Hotel in North Reddington Beach, very close to Clearwater and they LOVED it, also priced under $200. Good luck!

Did you look at VRBO at all? Try Indian Rocks, Indian Shores, St. Petersburg. Madeira in addition to Clearwater. We stayed last June in a place right on the beach in Indian Rocks or Indian Shores for less than $100 a night. It was an old estate and they had turned the carriage house into an apartment. I found it on VRBO. Good Luck.

Whenever my family and I visit Clearwater Beach we always stay at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key. However like dawz1026 it is a bit pricey, but after staying there so many times it is worth the cost per night and it is an excellent place to stay.

The hotels themselves are very nice. The rooms we have gotten at Best Western Sea Wake and whats now Holiday Inn were both high floor gulfview which was gorgeous! The rooms have some stains on the rugs and some a musty smell (probably old rugs) but they were clean bedsa and bathroom. Most rooms are 200+if you request the view. You can get a room much cheaper without a view,There is a red roof inn and a travelodge as well as the econo lodge that are cheaper..if u are just wanting proximity.I have to tell u we are staying at the Radisson clearwater central which is very clean and for 200 and under have a huge suite and it is in the middle of eveything.Find a hotel in Clearwater and just park at the beach for the day..the pirate ship and pier are all in walking distance..We are regulars so please ask me any questions...If yu are going March be aware of spring breakers..it gets loud at night! ps-the 200.00 for the view was worth it to me:cutie:

If you don't mind going a little further... the DoubleTree "resort" in Redington Beach has been remodeled recently and I heard it's pretty good.

Also, Madeira Beach has nice condos for rent. Ocean Sands and SeaView condominiums are great but pricey.

Or if you want something cheap but decent, I stayed a month in that little motel down in Treasure Island :

May I suggest renting a condo? You can get one for a reasonable price. As someone else mentioned, Indian Beach and Indian Shores is a great area. We used to stay at the Beach Cottages (which, despite the name, is a condo building). It has been years but they were great and I imagine they are only better now since they continued to expand and make improvements.
