clearwater - Holiday In Sunspree

Hi

I know there have been threads on Clearwater Hotels, but the search function seems to be overloaded at the moment, so I can't look.

We are going for a day trip to Clearwater on our upcoming trip and thought it would be a good idea to stay overnight.

I have been looking at various hotels on the net and in the Virgin brochure and wondered what the Holiday Inn Sunspree was like. It is given a high 'tick rating' in Virgins brochures, but looking at Travelocity it has a few iffy reviews.

Has anyone stayed there recently, or can recommend a nice alternative - preferably on the beach

Havent stayed in the one at clearwater, but Have stayed at the one in LBV, terrrible!!!!!!!!!!!
If youve heard iffy reviews, I would go with them, and change yur hotel.

We are doing exactly the same as you, even down to staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. Don't let reviews put you off, go to Travelocity search for any hotel and there is always an iffy review there. The only thing is there are 2 parts to the resort, a tower and then a building 2 storeys high, the 2 storey building apparently isn't much good but if you ask for a view you get the much nicer tower rooms.

I booked via Holiday Innn's website and got a Gulf view for about £60.

I think I'll go for it. The way I look at it, its for one night. As long as it is clean I'm not too bothered.

I came across another web site that shows reviews for Clearwater hotels and it gives some good reviews for Holiday Inn.

What really suprised me was the consistantly poor reviews the Hilton Clearwater beach got - both on the Tripadvisor site and travelocity. This is one of Virgin's Flagship Hotels. We stayed there about 5 years ago when it was a DoubleTree hotel and it was very nice then.

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of June we were due to stay for 7 nights . We only stayed 1 night - need I say more - I couldn't wait to leave.

The good thing is that it is right on the beach near Pier 60 which is well worth a visit.

I do aim to go back to Clearwater Beach on a future trip but I definitely won't be stayed at the Hilton - it definitely does not live up to its name

How about the Adam's Mark hotel? Few years since I stayed there, but back then it was pretty good. Apart from a elevator malfunction that was a bit scary - actually, it put the 'Tower of Terror' to shame...

i would definatly recommend the quality inn on gulfview blvd we stayed there last year for the night and the staff were so helpfull she actually gave me 4 room keys to diffrent rooms (rates differ) and then i just told her which one we wanted we stayed in room number 509 i think, it was on the top floor and the views were great the room was huge with a king size bed and double sofa bed and there was so much room also downstairs there is an ihop and you can get room service from them, i would also recommend the best western seawake that is just next door and i have also stayed there but they were a bit more expencive than the quality inn but it is a good clean hotel and leanora,s resturant in there is also nice for brekkie or lunch
ps if you have the entertainment card you will get a good rate in the quality in

Holiday Inn Clearwater
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights this year......rooms were ok,
corridors and lift to rooms a bit grotty, staff mediocre.
We had a room with a Gulf View but still didnt think it was worth it
A plus point ...it sits right on the beach and we had a great lazy day there which was what we needed.
Also checkout times of the screamer.dont miss it, its well worth it
