what can you tell me about this beach - we are planning to drive here on our off day from disney - would love to know anything you can tell me about this beach - parking, fees, things to do, etc.

Be sure to check the condition of the beach before heading out. The oil has now reached Pensacola and is moving south.

We're taking a two day break to the beach this July when we visit WDW. I have been monitoring the Clearwater Hyatt page since that is where we are staying. It looks pretty good. I found a lot of info over on tripadvisor and would recommend it.

Stick to the more tourist areas of Clearwater - they do have some issues with gangs and voilence. Don't take me wrong - the majority of the area is good, just be aware.

We visit Clearwater Beach every year and love it. We park at Pier 60 and rent chairs and an umbrella (about $20) on the beach. The marina is across the street and we always go out on a dolphin cruise there. We usually stay for the sunset (it is beautiful) and for the sunset festival at the pier.

We are planning on going again this year, hoping that the oil doesn't make it that far.

One of my families favorite restaurants in Clearwater Beach is the Goldolier, so if you want a place to eat I would highly recommend it.

We are staying at the Hyatt Regency. Does anyone have suggestions for safe places to eat near there? We were even thinking about just getting pizza. We're also going to get an ice cream cake if we can find a DQ, Baskin Robbins, TCBY, or the like nearby. (Sorry to hijack!)
