I just did it today... Just got back from Adventure Island (very nice water park) right next to Bush Gardens. We had a great day! Low crowds today 10am-3pm

Because of traffic 60-minute drive. And I drive a fast car

With no traffic and a fast car, It could be done in 35 minutes (maybe on a weekend morning before the roads fill-up).

Traffic in Tampa has gotten so much worse than when I went to college at USF back in 1990's.
Back then you could live in Clearwater and drive to school in Tampa. USF was cool because its right next door to Bush Gardens and Adventure Island

It is amazing the traffic in the area. My mom is from Tampa, I grew up in Orlando and left in '92. I go back atleast once a year and every year it seems to be worse. When we were there in April a couple friends drove from Orlando to visit us in Clearwater and there was a wreck on I-4...took them almost 4 HOURS to get from downtown Orlando to Clearwater Beach because of the wreck. Unfortunately it is easy for a short distance to take a long time in central florida

yeesh, I live in Valrico and it only takes 20 min to get to Busch Gardens - 45 min to Clearwater. maybe it'll speed up your way when the construction around the causeway and TIA are finished and 275 is widened

We stayed at the Sheraton Sand Key in July and had a great time. Crabby Bills is now a must for us.

My parents and I go to Clearwater Beach every year either before WDW when going in August and after WDW when going in December. We always stay at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sandy Key and some of our favorite restaurants are Shells, (Locations in Clearwater Beach and Redington Beach) P.J.'S Oyster Bar and the Gondolier.
