The rental car companies seem to be confusing people about SUVs. Consumer Reports categorizes the SUVs as (1) small, (2) midsize, and (3) large. This is logical, right?
The rental car companies categorize the cars as (1) intermediate, (2) standard, and (3) large. Notice how they make the small SUV sound bigger.
There seems to be a large number of people who claim to have either rented or seen small SUVs on the standard SUV aisle. This is wrong and people should know that they are getting ripped off.
The following cars are NOT standard or midsize SUVs:
Equinox
Vue
Escape
Outlander
Liberty
The following cars ARE standard or midsize SUVs:
Trailblazer
Endeavor
Explorer
Rendezvous
Cherokee
Envoy
I would recommend not renting a Trailblazer (if possible). Most of the reviews for this vehicle are terrible in terms of safety, reliability, and gas mileage.
