Clearanced Nook at WM

Cool! I'm still on team nook because of their library lending function. Altho if/when kindle gets their act together and allow overdrive I might switch over b/c they're so much lighter/thinner.

Hi,

I work in a library and Kindle will allow Overdrive lending by the end of the year. The date has not been released but is coming soon.

Same here.. and I'll go one further.. why would someone shop at Walmart? I can't stand that place! Dirty, dingy and disorganized.. never mind the HIGHEST prices.

You know...this comment bugs me...why does it matter to you where she shops??? Or where anyone shops? You don't like walmart, fine, don't go there, but don't put others down if they do shop there.

Thanks for sharing op, that's what the budget board is for!

Barnes and Noble is selling the 1st gen Nook for $119.

Amazon is also selling the latest generation Kindle (wifi, with Special Offers) for $114. Rumor has it that the next release - in the next several weeks - will offer an improved model for less money. I think we're about to see the $99 ereader hit the market.

Amazon is also releasing a touchscreen Kindle and possibly a tablet as well. Stay tuned - if you are in the market now you will soon have some more choices!

No, no calendar. I can honestly say I would not go with an iTouch over a Nook or Kindle if I was looking for an e-reader. I have both and the screen on the iTouch is just way too small for reading. An iPAD OTH would be a cool upgrade.

Actually yes.. I have a free app with a calender on my nook color.

I don't know that I would chose an itouch over an ereader, but rather an itouch and just a basic nook/kindle vs nook color or similar. Does the nook color have a calender feature?

yes the flip Calender free app

Brilliant! :thumbsup2
I had heard the news sometime ago but like you said no dates yet. I figure I'll wait at least another year before I turn in my Nook... That's the part I hate about buying technology, newer better stuff always comes out in less than a year. :)

Two comments:

DH has a Kindle and he who swore he would never use an e-reader has truly grown to love it! And Amazon quickly replaced it when several key letters wore off after we played far too many games waiting in doctor offices :lmao:

Our Wal-Mart used to be one of the dirtiest, disorganized, poorly staffed checkout places in our suburban empire of stores but after a year-long avoidance I stepped back in on an errand last month and was amazed! Clean and sparkling with no merchandise falling off the shelves and plenty of clerks to check you out! I think my jaw was hanging down to my waistline in amazement! I will definitely return to see if I was imagining this!

Love my nook, I use it all the time. The big issue for me was the library function...I borrow a LOT more books than I buy.

I went with the Kobo over the Kindle, because of the library function. I've never paid more than thrift store/garage sale prices on paperback books and knew I would not be happy buying e-books. I get most of what I want to read for free from my library's website.

I had a kindle, wasn't happy with trying to find your books or the page turning after having a touch screen on my phone...traded it back to a family member and got a Nook color...LOVE LOVE LOVE my Nook Color!!!! and I love that each Fri. I can get a free book! SORRY OP that you feel dissed....it is a great deal!! And I shop at WalMart...it's not been dirty where I've shopped....now I also shop at Dirt Cheap...that is one dirty store...but great bargins!!!!

Glad to hear something good about the Nook Color! I'm planning on ordering one for my mom! I am going to stop at my local staples which sells them so that I can see one.

I love my NookColor as well. My husband will tell you in our house it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Love it!!!

My husband looooves his nook color he changed the software to change it into more of a tablet --don't know how but he uses it for his business and until we start earning more money he is perfectly happy with his little tablet!
