Cleaning windows with newspaper?

I saw this on a home show and have heard about it. You're supposed to use newspaper instead of paper towels to eliminate streaking and lint.

All I can think about is the ink that is left on my hands when I read the newspaper, so how on earth are my windows going to be clean when I'm done?

Does anyone do this? What about that ink?

I grew up learning that and it really works. Crumple up some newspaper and use it like you would paper towel. I never had the ink run on my hands.

Just don't use the comic section. Doesn't work well with all the colors. Find a nice b&w section and wipe away.

It works like a charm. I've used it for years. I agree with not using the comics though! They don't work that well.

Every since someone told me about the Clean Team approach to cleaning, years ago, I have used 100 cotton napkins as cleaning clothes. They work wonderfully on windows or any surface. They leave no lint and I rarely buy paper towels. I wash them with bleach and they last for ever. I have two dozen and I usually use them all in a Saturday of cleaning or washing windows.

I have use newspapers in the past, don't really like them too much, though they do work well. I prefer using older, mid-sized bathroom towels, not washcloth size, not bath size, that middle one though. No fabric softner on them either. Paper towels are the worst, IMO.

We used to use newspaper on the windows & mirrors when I lived in the Air Force dormitory. It leaves no lint or streaks.

WOW, this brings back memories. When I was a girl we washed windows using vinegar and water and wiped the panes with newspaper. I had forgotten about that.
