Cleaning pennies for pressers ?

Ok guys, last try I RUINED my pennies w/the vinegar-salt combo, so now I'm just using coke...
how long shd I let it set before rinsing?

I usually just do a soak in good old fashion Ketsup for about 30 minutes. It works like a charm. Maggie

I've never cleaned my pennies before - I used 'new' pennies... is there another reason for cleaning?

I always thought you put a sheet of aluminum foil down in the sink and soaked your change to clean the coins. Maybe I'm wrong? When you finally get your coins cleaned will you share with us how you finally did it.

Just a thought,have you tried going to the bank and ask them for brand new pennies,nickels,dimes or quarters? It might be easier for you

My FIL is collects pennies...not the pressed ones. To clean them, he uses Kaboom shower, tub and tile cleaner. He sprays some into a baby food jar, then drops in the penny. Leaves it in for 30 seconds. Takes it out and wipes it off with a paper towel. Kaboom doesn't work for any other coin other than pennies.

Ketchup worked GREAT for me!

Taco Bell hot sauce works wonders. Just leave a penny, no matter how dirty, in some sauce for a little while and it will come out looking like new. . . and taste delicious

Use vinegar & baking soda . . . be sure you are using pennies older than 1982; these pennies are 95% copper. Pennies minted 1982 & later are only 2.5% copper. Or go to a coin shop and purchase pre-1982 pennies.

Also - go to your bank and buy a few rolls of quarters, to make the pressed pennies!

We stacked ours in an M&M Minis tube and it fit exactly one roll of quarters with one penny for each two quarters. I was stunned that it worked out so well. It was also great when we found a pressed penny machine to just pull out the tube, pour out a penny and two quarters and put it back in the backpack. Usually it was pour out a penny and two quarters, pour out a penny and two quarters, and so on until we'd pressed each design.
