Someone share my pain, please. After months of thinking about it, and having it literally hanging over my head, I finally ventured upstairs to the playroom/attic storage room. This is where I dumped all the junk I was too lazy/stressed about to sort when I moved three years ago. It's where the children put bags filled with junk from their floors and under their beds when they don't want to take the time to sort and put things away. It's where things live when there IS no place to put them away. You get the idea. A total nightmare. Like those rooms on Clean Sweep, where everything is piled six feet deep, only in my case, there's no one with an Australian accent to clean it up. Just me. And two pretty uncooperative girls.
So I finally tackled part of it the other day, with both girls "helping." And we threw out about three bags of garbage and made some decisions on a few other items, before everyone, including me, got tired and bored. But I've ventured up again, and after EIGHT more bags of garbage, I can see the floor again.
Most satisfying things to throw away -
Half-finished art projects and supplies that have dried up.
Many sticks and pieces of chewed-looking yarn from a God's-eye making marathon after summer camp one year.
A whole nest of headless Barbies - what were those girls doing in that bag???
Now I have half the room clean, and we are sorting into bins labelled "Books", "Stuffed Animals", "Give Away" and so on. It's very satisfying to finally be making some progress.
Anyone else in cleaning mode???
