Ok...so here it is.

I have officially been on Weight Watchers since Feb. and have, to date, lost 40 lbs! :cool1: I still have 20 to go until my "official" goal weight but my closet is officially FULL.

I have started cleaning out my clothes that are too big and I have no clue what to do with them. I know, I know...I SHOULD donate them. But seriously. I started a new job last year and bought a ton of clothes for work (dress pants and such) right before I started losing weight and there are some really nice things that have only been worn just a few times. There are quite a few consignment stores in our area. They all give you 40% of whatever price they sale the clothes for, and whatever isn't sold in a year they donate. None of them around here give you the option to pick up the unsold items after a year and I'm afraid nothing would sale there, but they might sale somewhere else. It's like I don't get a second chance! LOL Really, that is ok but they all require you to wash, PRESS, and hang the items before you bring them in for consignment...if you saw the pile of stuff in the corner of our bedroom you'd understand why I really am thinking twice about this option! :rotfl2:

I was also debating ebay. However, I don't know just a WHOLE lot about it and I don't know how well clothes sell on there.

Lastly, I was thinking I might just put them in the next garage sale we have. Then, whatever is left over I can either donate or go the consignment route or whatever.

Honestly, I really just want them out of the house, but I feel like I could make a little bit of (DISNEY:goodvibes) money from them and want to do what would be the most benificial! Input please and thank you! :yay:

Congratulations! I woud try craigslist! Especially if they are name brand items as these sell well. I would put in lots. ( 5 pants, 3 tops etc.) Another option before goodwill would be a womens shelter or job council type place. A lot of these gals had to leave their haouse with nothing and it is really hard to get a job if you do not have decent clean clothes. Keep up the good work!

* I am not too thrilled with goodwill as the ceo's make a bunch of money and little actually goes to the poor!

Well, I haven't been in this particular situation, but I often find myself with WAY too many clothes. I used to have a really hard time letting go, but then I realized that some of the stuff that I rarely wore would be better served if it belonged to someone who was not as well off as I am. I'm not rich or anything, but there are a lot of people out there that would just be pleased to wear something that was stain-free, no holes, etc. Even though some of the items were expensive when I bought them, it really didn't matter because it wasn't like I wanted money back or anything.

If you have some things that could be taken in by a tailor, I would suggest keeping those, but anything else-- donate it! It feels really good to give back. You never know... someone who has lost a lot of weight might just need the clothes that you are too thin to wear. Pay it forward!

My DD8 was having a hard time getting rid of her clothes, too until this past April. A family of 7 lost everything they had when their home burned to the ground and they had a DD my daughter's size. My daughter quickly and willingly gave her an entire wardrobe. 20-something tee shirts alone. She even gave her some of her fancy dresses and about 10 pairs of shoes (some of which she hadn't even taken the tags of of yet). The way I see it is this...

If I don't use it and I don't need it, it should go to someone in need. Good luck figuring out what to do and congrats on losing the weight. I know that is hard to do for a lot of people. Best of luck to you!

Our previous church had a closet for people that were coming in for Career Services help.

We attended a large church, and we helped with resumes, interviewing skills, computer classes, and networking and kept a nice closet for people to choose interviewing outfits. We even had hairstylists in the church donate hair cuts too!

Does your church have something like that?

Another suggestion:

I have some friends that get together with things that they are done with and trade around amongst themselves.
