Cleaning Hair Straightners?

I hope yous can help. Can hair straightners be cleaned? Ours has alot of build up. My DD16 just got done getting her hair cut. Her hair dresser said its caused from all the stuff DD13 and I put in our hair. DD16 thinks this is a good excuse to get a new exspensive one.

I don't know about straighteners, but I used to get gunky hair spray build up on my metal curling iron in the 80s and used rubbing alcohol to clean it. Good luck!

I use rubbing alcohol on mine too, its a CHI, very expensive, and thats what my hairdresser who uses CHI products advised to do.

Just make sure its cool, and I straighten a towel after I'm done, to "wipe" off any alcohol.
