Classic Sesame Street?

:cheer2: Does anyone like classic Sesame street? Well classic for me anyways LOL (1980's ) What are your favorite songs from it? Also, does ANYONE know if they are gonna release dvd's of the old epps? :3dglasses ( I wonder if they can do that ...hmmm)
 
Well, classic for me would be the late 60's/early 70's. I did love it as a kid, and I remember it fondly. :flower: Alot of people are tearing it up these days, saying Ernie and Bert were gay - which I think is ridiculous - but that's me. To me, they're puppets. They have no sexuality. :rotfl: And you can be darned sure when I was 5 years old, I wasn't the least bit aware of what a gay PERSON was, let alone a gay PUPPET. :rotfl2:
 
Noggin plays older episodes, at least they used to. It's been awhile since I've seen it. I'm thinking they weren't full episodes though, just different segments put together. You know, kind of like a "clip show".

My favorite song has to be the pinball song where they're counting "1, 2, 3....4, 5...6, 7, 8, 9, 10.....11, 12", in that catchy tune. You've got to know what I'm talking about.
 

Sing, sing a song, make it simple to last your whole life loooooooooooooonnngggg (or something like that).

I think the show jumped the shark when everyone found out that Snuffie(can't spell full name) was real. ;)

Ooohhh...thanks for the memory!!! I do remember that tune. I loved Sesame Street as a child. What a great show...I guess I'll get reaquainted with it once my daughter comes home. "Me love cookies" I loved Cookie Monster...is he still on?
 
The cookie monster is still on. He does the letter of the day now. The letter of the day is on a cookie and he has to restrain himself from not eating.
 
My dh and I can sing all the words (mostly correctly) to the "Ladybug Picnic" and the "Alligator King".
And does anyone else remember the doodlebugs that ernie had in his window flower box? I loved them!
 
Our DD is already fascinated by the songs on Sesame Street...she got the DVD What's the Name of that Song for Christmas, and she is mesmerized by it!

One of my all-time favorites is when Bob sings "Who are the people in your neighborhood..." It's a little corny to watch it now, but it's so endearing. :)

My mom has a 30 years of Sesame Street video that she bought for the grandkids, but I think my sister and I like it more than they do!!
 
What I always loved about Sesame St. was the fact that they did not play just to children. They have characters which parodied real life. I remember a Dolly Parton character,(do not remember the name) and then there was H.Ross Parrot for H. Ross Perrot. I know there were others but it was always fun to watch the show with the kids and know there would be something for adults too.

Anyone remember that Sesame Street movie /special thing where Big Bird and Barkly went to China and learned about their culture? I LOVE that one! :banana: :banana: :banana: I wish I knew where to get it on tape .

I just looked it up on Amazon.com and Big Bird in China is available on DVD for $10.38.

There's also Big Bird in Japan.

I have a Sesame Street 25th Anniversary DVD. It's a little over 10 years old, but it has songs from when I was little. It has Batty Bat, Aligator King, Do the Duck, and many other songs. It's mainly just a song movie with just a little bit of plot.
 
I might be a minority in the world but I liked Sesame Street a WHOLE lot better before Elmo became it's 'mascot". Anyone else feel like that?

"Said the aligator king to his 7 sons...."

I have lots of songs that I love form this show. It is so different now, but they do have some of the "classic" songs on occasionly.
