Hi - on a recent thread there seemed to be some confusion re luggage on the return journey to WDW on the DCL buses. Unfortunately my question has been 'lost' within the thread so I thought I'd post a seperate question.

If you pay for transfers back to WDW after the cruise, do you put your luggage outside the night before and then not see it again until you are in your WDW hotel room??

Or is it, (as I had previous been told), that you have to carry your own luggage through customs and deposit it on the DCL bus yourself??

thanks for any help!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I asked my TA this very question and was informed that they will take it to the room if you leave it outside your stateroom.

Of course, I could be wrong, especially if mmouse37 has done this before.

You must claim it after the cruise, go through customs with it and then make your way to the DCL bus that is heading to WDW.

I am not sure about this. We have ALWAYS been told to claim the luggage and then bring it with us through customs.

If you are on a land/sea program with DCL, they will take your luggage from your WDW resort TO the ship, but I do not think it works the other way around. Unless you are on DCL's onboard airline checkin program you must claim your own luggage downstairs, bring it with you through customs, and then make your way to the bus.

This is the way it was, if things have changed then I did not hear about it.

All is can say now is to the OP...for the definitive answer call DCL!!!

Because you have been out of the country, you will need to claim your luggage first and go through customs, then recheck. This has always been the case and I would be really surprised if regulations were eased, rather than tightened on anything!

It's not a big hassle though, you should move through quickly and then the luggage goes with you to the bus. There are porters if you need them!!

Hi - thanks for the reply :lovestruc - I think I will just continue as planned with the hire car option - I would have done the transfer for the added 'luxury' of whisking past everyone else carrying their luggage and breezing onto the bus!!! :rotfl:

But as I'll be carrying the luggage anyway, I might as well save a few dollars and collect the car at the port rather than collect it at WDW - either way I'll still be renting it for the same number of days, so I might as well save on the bus transfer cost ;) !!

thanks anyway!!:thumbsup2

I think the only time you don't have to claim your luggage on your way through customs is if you use the Onboard Airline Checkin service. In this case, your luggage is collected from your stateroom and you do not see it until you return to your home airport.

However, if you are just using DCL Transfers back to WDW, you will have to collect your luggage and bring it with you.
