Hey, all. Brand new to DVC and we aren't planning to take out first trip to WDW until next fall.

As I understand it, for stays of 8 days or more, the full housekeeping is scheduled on day 4 of your stay, after 3 nights in the room. So, if we check in on Wednesday, our room will be fully cleaned on Saturday, right?

Right now, we're planning a full resort only day for that Saturday, so that would be a really inconvenient day for us, since we like to be out when they come through, and I don't want to be basing our pool time on whether they might come in by a certain time. So, how difficult is it to request they come on Sunday instead of Saturday?

TIA!

We have only been members since 2009 and I can only think of once that they didn't show up for cleaning on day four, we usually do 10-12 nights 2 or 3 times a year. They might not have gotten to our room until late in the day, but they do get to it. Always call housekeeping if you have doubts as to the schedule. Day one is your check in day. So if you check in on a Saturday, on Tuesday they would do a full cleaning if you will be there 8 nights or more at that resort in the same villa. And then for your Trash and Towel you get it four days later. So if you have a full cleaning on Tuesday, then the T&T would be on Saturday and it will continue to rotate in that manner.

Here is the exact wording for Housekeeping from the DVC Rules and Regulations document on the member website (I added some bolded areas):
  1. All Vacation Homes will be cleaned prior to check in.

  2. For all stays regardless of the length of the stay, daily trash removal will be provided.
c. For stays of seven (7) or less consecutive nights in the same Vacation Home, the DVC Resort will provide a “Trash & Towel” service on the fourth consecutive day of the stay. During a Trash & Towel service, housekeeping will:

  • Empty the trash and put new liners in the trash bins.

  • Provide fresh bathroom linens.

  • Replace facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper.

  • Replace coffee, sugar, cream, and sweeteners.

  • Replace dish washing liquid, dish washing detergent, sponges and laundry detergent.
  1. For stays of eight (8) consecutive nights or more in the same Vacation Home, the DVC Resort will provide:
    1. 1) One (1) “Full Cleaning” service on the fourth consecutive day of the stay. During a “Full Cleaning,” housekeeping will:
      • Provide all of the services included in a “Trash & Towel” cleaning.

      • Change the bed linens.

      • Vacuum and dust the Vacation Home.

      • Clean the Bathroom(s).

      • Clean the Kitchen/Kitchenette and wash the dishes.
    2. 2) Following the initial Full Cleaning service, housekeeping will provide another Full Cleaning Service every

eight (8) consecutive days in the same Vacation Home.

    3. 3) Following the initial check in, a “Trash & Towel” will be provided every eight (8) consecutive days reserved in the same Vacation Home.
  2. Cleanings do not include laundering of personal items.

  3. For stays of more than eight (8) consecutive days in the same Vacation Home, the Full Cleaning/”Trash & Towel” cycle will begin again.

  4. Club Members and their Guests may request clean linens, toiletries, etc., by calling the DVC Resort’s housekeeping department. Additional fees may be charged for such requests. Supplemental cleaning services are available for a fee and may be arranged through either Member Services or the DVC Resort’s front desk.

  5. All Vacation Homes will be cleaned following check out.

When you say "8 days or more" I am assuming you mean 8 nights or more. If there for seven nights (and thus eight days), you do not get any full cleaning day, just the trash and towel on day four. If staying 8 nights or more then you get full cleaning on day 4 (and you count arrival date as one to get to four). In that situation, you can call housekeeping while there (there is a button on the room phone for it) and have it change the full cleaning day, e.g., such as to the fifth day. The issue, as indicated above, is the competency of housekeeping. You may get that full cleaning on the fifth day but there is also a decent chance, based on many reports of past experiences, that they will show up to do it on the fourth day despite your request or never show up at all. Based on my own history of experiences with housekeeping, if I were you I would probably just choose a different day for your stay-at-the-resort day.
