Clarification - Disney Collection last 4 mos

Hi all,

Can you please clearify, as long as I book a Disney Collection hotel before the last 4 months of my UY I can make a booking right? Assuming yes I am pondering what to do...

We have a wedding to go to in December at DL and there's no doubt we are going we however cannot book GCV until next month and our use year is Feb. Our friends who own just checked to see if anything at all was still available for that time out of curiosity and there's only 2BRs right now showing so chances are at time of booking we'll be out of luck as I doubt a studio or 1br will actually open up. ((it's the first weekend of Candlelight historically))

What would you guys do? Book now with the Disney Collection or wait a month to book a waitlist that ends just before 4 months to the end of my use year so I can get DLH?

Yes you are correct.

I would suggest waiting, as rooms at Paradise Pier or Disneyland Hotel are not terribly difficult to get.

remember, once you transfer to the Disney Collection, they can not be moved back into DVC points.

The rule of 4 does not apply at Disneyland.

What is the Rule of Four?

You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection (excluding Disneyland® Resort Hotels in California and Tokyo Disney Resort®), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 4 months of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year

As was mentioned the rule of 4 doesn't apply to DL. And I you should have time to wait and try a waitlist at VGC if that is the preference.

So I can waitlist as late as possible for a studio, when i get nervous I'll book the hotel!

OK one more question,

How late do you think I should hold the waitlist to gte I can get a standard view hotelroom at DLH if the villa doesn't come through.

At the end of Sept I'll need to bank my points so do I keep the waitlist up until just before the end of Sept or can I borrow points from 2015 past the Sept 30th banking deadline for the villa?

I just want to make certain I have all my ducks in a row as I've never dealt with a booking into the last 4 mos before.
