Clamshell beds at Typhoon Lagoon

I don't suppose anyone knows any more about this yet? *looks hopeful*

We called today to get pricing for cabana rentals and chair rentals in July and asked about the Clamshell beds but the person on the phone didn't know anything. I hope more info comes out soon!

I wrote to Disney via their website asking for more info about the clamshells:

The first reply basically seemed to qquote a press release, using the same language that many press articles have used about the improvements from the refurbishments. Mentions the clamshells will be available to rent, but did not answer any of my questions.

I wrote back, asking my questions again. Second email denied there are clamshells. Despite me including the first email that said there are...

I am trying to figure out how to write a third email. But am not hopeful I can get an actual reasonable reply.

ETA: ok, so for try #3 I have PM'd "WDW Today" on twitter. Hopefully they can come through!

We were at Blizzard Beach this past Friday and while in the wave pool I spotted what I assume is their version of the Clamshell Beds. They were in a spot that jutted out into the pool so actually a nice spot there. I was walking away when I saw them but it looked like they were almost futon like with thick mattresses that had raised backs to lay or lounge on. They were big enough for at least 2 people to lay on and had a canopy over the top. Sounded like they were $150 and could be used by up to 4 people. They did look comfy and the spot was in a nice location.

We are spending the 4th at Typhoon Lagoon and will have to look for their Clamshell Beds. We have an Umbrella reserved for the day.

We were at TL about 10 days ago. Didn't see anything of these. We did the surf lessons (highly recommended). You can "stake your claim" for chairs before leaving to get checked in so you can go straight to the slides.

I saw these lounge chairs in a video by the TimTracker. He did a blog about all the Orlando waterparks and I was looking at it trying to decide between BB and Typhoon. I will see if I can post it here...it is at about 2:16 in the video

I didn't get any pictures. sorry. But I did see where the clamshell beds were at Typhoon Lagoon and they looked similar to the BB ones. They were located overlooking the small pool area in front of Crush & Gusher. There didn't seem to be as many as I saw at BB but I only looked quick. If I were thinking of renting them (they looked comfy), I would rather rent the ones at BB even though I am more of a Typhoon Lagoon person. The location at BB was much nicer with more of a view. At Typhoon, I would stick with the umbrellas or cabanas.

We were just at TL a couple weeks ago and did not see these chairs/umbrella's to rent.

We rented a cabana near the wave pool and loved it! There were some umbrella chairs to rent in this area as well, but they did not the padded chairs, just regular lounge chairs.
