CKC Manchester

I got an email that they added classes, including a Disney one, on Saturday afternoon. Is anyone doing this? I've got to decide between this and going to Lisa's crop in CT. (I just can't ask DH to take Morgan to dance two weekends in a row!).

Anyone going to just Saturday?

A bunch of us will be there both Friday and Saturday - most of us are in the Friday Disney class already, but if you do decide to come up, let us know and we'll definitely have to meet up!

Have you done CKC before? This is my 4th year and I really love it - I highly recommend it!

I'm too tired tonight, but tomorrow I'll dig up my email and tell you what classes I'm registered for.

Jennifer, CK doesn't happen everymonth, my crops do. I would recommend going to CK in May, but then we better see your smiling face come June or July, if June is a big dance recital month.

It's May 14-16th, I think.

I've never been to a class, I think it was up in Marlboro one year and I went over for the vendor fair but I was not impressed at all.

Aw, Lisa, that's sweet Morgan's recital is actually 5/30, so we're good with that.

I did see the class info online, I'm not sure I'll go just for that though, and I really can't swing a couple of other classes. If it were a month later, I'd be fine, but with just having spent a bundle on my weekend crop in NH, I shouldn't. So, I'll probably try to come to CT in May instead.

Holly, you coming with me to CT on 5/9?

Unless it was a long time ago, the one in Marlboro wasn't CKC - there hasn't been one in Massachusetts for as long as I've been following it (since about 2004). Maybe another company?

If you're looking to avoid spending money, though, I would probably stay away. I always do some serious damage to the wallet there every year.

It could have been a long time ago Or, it could have been another company, I'm always sketchy on details. I just don't care enough!

All I know is it's usually the same weekend as Morgan's dance recital (can you believe she's not even 9 and this is her 6th recital!?), and it isn't this year. Unfortunately, even with a decent tax return, I reallllllly shouldn't go because of DH's cut in hours...So, I'll probably stay away! My wallet needs some breathing time

The host hotel rooms were sold out months before registration even opened. People book their rooms for the following year before leaving the convention. There are several other hotels in the area, if you were interested.

Thanks for this info, NEE! TinkerBean and I found this out the hard way. We booked months ago and are in a hotel a mile from the host one. We were super lucky to get that - the city is full that weekend! At least we got into all the classes we wanted and we'll see you at the Friday night Disney one.

So that we have a prayer of getting into the host hotel next year - is the Manchester CKC *always* the same weekend? When do the 2010 dates get announced? We're SUCH first-timers - now I know why the Radisson clerk chuckled when I asked her if "this scrapbooking event was such a big deal?"

Looking forward to meeting you in the Disney class! Yes, CKC is always the same weekend - the weekend AFTER Mother's Day. I think technically they don't announce the dates until much later this year, but it always follows the same pattern.

As of two minutes ago, we're already booked into the Manchester, NH hotel for the 2010 CKC! Hey, TinkerBean, get your Zig pens ready, baby...we're set for next year! (Now, watch, THIS will be the first year the date/pattern changes!!!) Whew!

This morning, the Radisson quoted me May 2010 nightly rates from $149 (double/double non-smoking regular room) to $159 (nicer view), to $169 (12th floor rooms) + tax. Sounds exactly like what we'll be paying this year to be a mile away..sob! Oh, well, thanks to NEE, we're on track for an even more fab time next year!
