My sister has had a civil union:bride: :bride: with a wonderful girl and I want to get them something extra special for a gifts for their reception/house warming. One thing I want is a "First Christmas Together" Christmas ornament. Where can I find one that does not have the traditional bride and groom or Mickey and Minnie??? Just two Minnies would be perfect. I also want an extra special card to let them know just how happy I am for them. Hallmark does not make a card for that occasion - at least not in Southern Illinois. Can anyone recomend a reputable online store? :worship:

You'll have to settle for the generic version, perhaps with a picture of the parks instead of a set of characters. We've looked for this type of thing in the past for our daughter and her partner without any luck.

Don't give up so easily. I know that there is at least 1 company online that sells gay greeting cards including lesbian focused. I do not work for this company but have ordered from them in the past. Also note that it is an 'adult' company so their website reflects that it is that sort of company, but they do have a nice selection of greeting cards. (10percent.com) There is a link for Lesbian Greeting Cards and then a link for Union cards.

Regarding the ornament - there is a possibility - but not necessarily in southern Illinois. When we were at the parks this past December, they had an offsite vendor in the Arribas Brothers store at the Marketplace at Downwotn Disney. They had a printer that could print on Christmas Ball Ornaments. They had several blanks to choose from with different characters and 'slogans' and you could personalize them with a picutre if you wanted. We got our nephew his Baby's First Christmas ornament there. They did it in a couple of hours. It was only $20. I would suggest that you try to contact WDW Merchandise Guest Relations at 407-363-6200 - ask if they have that vendor there in the Arribas Brothers store still and see if you can get them to do one mail order.

Another suggestion is to work with Merchandise Guest Relations to see if you can order a Disney ornament with all of the characters that can be personalized. That is more likely to happen as that vendor may have only been short term. I have ordered through WDW Merchandise Guest Relations before and have been very pleased. They have access to a database of most things sold on property and even things no longer sold - you describe what you're looking for and when you saw it or where you saw it and they will do their best to get it for you if it's in stock. In this case, they won't have an ornament with 2 brides, but they could very likely be able to order a personlized ornament from the Christmas Shoppe on property. :)

Good Luck - hope you find what you're looking for. And congrats to the happy couple. :grouphug: I am a Saluki myself. :goodvibes

For our "First Christmas Together" ornament we went to the 365 Days of Christmas Store at Downtown Disney, picked one of the large blank Mickey Head ornaments and had them write one of our names on each ear and "Our First Christmas Together 2004"on the large part of it. We've also done "We met, Gay Days 2003", "Our New Home, 2005", "Kungaloosh, 2006" and "Tolliver's First Christmas, 2007". We try to mix up the colors, so they're not all too much the same.

That way, we've got a milestone ornament for each year we've been together all with our names on the ears. This year we'll do one that says "Our Big Fat Gay Disney Wedding, 2008" on it. Next year, who knows what it will be, we'll figure out something.

Anyway, they look great, and they have a lot of meaning. More meaning, I think than the generic "Our First . . . " ornament with Mickey and Minnie on them.

I had asked about a two Mickey cake top for a friend of mine that was getting married in Canada last year...but was told it would never be made and two Minnies would not be made either...NOT becuase of any Gay issue...more simply because there is no such thing as two Mickeys or two Minnies!

Interesting viewpoint....gets around a lot of things.

Another possibility is to buy the wedding toppers (2 sets) and split them up - sell the mickeys to a male couple??

I liked the big ornament idea the best...may have to hijack that one!

Now that is a good idea!

Cute puppy btw :)

definitely try to find a company that personalizes these, they should be able to make something for you!
