OK Sorry if this is a dumb question... we are staying in RPR for just one night (sob sob) as we are alreay booked into a private villa, this is an "add on" to the holiday. Is there a charge to go into City Walk? Or is this free if in hotel ? Can a 4 yr old go there in the evening?? We were wondering what to do in the evening as the park closes at 5pm on the night we are there ( Fri 20th oct) will it be a halloween party night ?? Will people be dressed tooo scary for my 4 yr old. We thought we might take her out about 7pm for a meal and then a strol ( her in the buggy)

Any advice please.....

citywalk is like downtown disney, free to all except for a couple of the night clubs. it will be a halloween horror night, but guests are not permitted to wear costumes and the event will be in one of the parks. most of the crowds will be walking through citywalk on the way to HHN. get out and enjoy the sights.

7pm for a meal and stroll is fine. A little later than that and the clubs will start charging the cover charge to get in and they are all 21 and over at that point.

You can walk around and see the sites, street performers, go in the stores etc, you just couldnt go in the clubs (I never go in the clubs anyway) Our kids love to walk around citywalk at night. (they were not 4, they were like 9 or 10)

I can't think of a single reason to take a 4 year-old to CityWalk much less on a busy, crowded night. There isn't anything for them to do or see beyond large crowds of people and they should have gotten their fill of that in the parks. If you're lucky, there will be a G-rated movie playing at the theater at the back of City Walk but there really aren't any venues for little kids. I've never seen street performers at City Walk like there are in the parks but even if there are, your child has no chance of seeing them unless you manage to push your buggy to the front of the crowd. You might consider letting her play in the small sandy beach at RPR near the boat dock. If it's been a sunny day, the sand stays warm and the kids love digging in it. The RPR has the Mariner's Club which is open from 5 to midnight which has supervised entertainment so maybe she'd enjoy playing there while you take in City Walk. They have computers with games and lots of toys. There's also the Luau on Sat. nights which has a Polynesian show.

I have seen street performers at City Walk, and I can also think of a very good reason to bring a 4-year old. His or her parents are paying a lot of $ for a trip to Universal and want to enjoy a family vacation, because after all Universal does advertise to attract families. They want to enjoy a nice dinner at one of the restaurants at City Walk and do not want to have to hide back at the hotel to keep the child away from those who feel that children should be seen and not heard.

My 4 and 6 year old loved the carnival games. The people that worked there were great and made sure that they got to win some prizes. They just beemed from ear to ear. :goodvibes

The nature store at Citywalk is fun for 4 year old as are the guys on stilts, the carnival games, the water squirty things, the music, the lights, the desserts at Pastamore and any other live entertainment that may be there at the time. LOTS!!!! Go and have fun!!!

There is also a little merry-go-round at CityWalk a 4-year-old can ride, and there is a sandbox area in the outdoor bar across from Margaritaville (by the plane), in case Mom and Dad need a drink. :teeth:

Sadly, they got rid of most of the street performers, but you still may occasionally see stilt walkers.

If you go to Margaritaville for dinner she can also check out the volcano.

Jason 71 whats the volcano ??? sorry if this is dumb question!

Thanks for your replies. Im kind of hopping she will be pooped, and asleep in buggy, so DH & I can grab a nice quiet meal for an hour or so. Then I guess we will all be back in the room ready to sleep, for the next day!!! Got to make use of this FOTL access!!! :teeth:

How late do the pools stay open in the evening in Oct. could we do a park one day, leave at 5pm go to the pool ???

My kids like walking around CityWalk. Liked it better when there was a stroller to ride in. Don't forget the GLOW store. They love that. They always want to do the merry go round, but I never let them. You can always take the boats and check out the other hotels if you would like. Portofino is quite pretty in the evening. I would not hesitate to take your child out to dinner anywhere at Citywalk. Have fun, enjoy your meal, it is an amusement park.
