Citrico's or California Grill

I am a Citrico afficianado! ask for Jamie - excellent server. We have gone to his table on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is wonderful and the venue is gorgeous.

CG! Ate there two weeks ago and it was the best meal I[ve ever eaten. Our server (Walter) was fabulous! Very fun and attentive. We had a variety of foods among our group of 7 including sushi, flatbread, filet, snapper, grouper, pork and veal. All of it was downright astounding (I gave the edge in awesomeness to my sisters veal, but my filet was to-die-for). The valrhona chocolate cake? A masterpiece!

We had a 9:20 ADR, and Walter timed everything so we could see the fireworks and then have our entrees served right after. Best experience ever and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Honestly, both restaurants are very good. HOWEVER, when I eat at Citricos, I could easily imagine that I was eating anyplace in the world (not that WORLD :rotfl:) ; the food- especially their fish- is good, and the decor and service very nice. CG is still a total experience: decor, view, bar area, food, SPECTACULAR WINE OFFERINGS and the fireworks absolutely set it apart.

If you do go to Citricos, by all means walk down to the GF dock and watch the show from there. (I actually prefer the fireworks from this vantage point- even as compared to the CG...)

Either way, I'm JEALOUS :dance3:

We regularly dine at the CG when at WDW; we enjoy the food, the wine offerings and the view. The service has always been consistently good; however, it can get noisy, primarily because some adults confuse this restaurant with a backyard summer party. Sadly, Disney tolerates such behavior (and T-shirt-wearing men!) which generates the correct observations made by some on this thread.

Our last experience at Citrico's featured salmon dishes that lacked attention. As a result, the dishes were less-than-satisfactory. [Surprisingly, the most consistently-prepared salmon of an above-average quality was served for years at Tusker House...before it became a sitdown establishment.] However, the atmosphere at Citrico's is pleasant. Still, Disney has a concern with the restuarant: it's the only one which is identified and promoted on the monorail as one approaches the GF. Securing ADR is easier for a dinner at Citrico's because CG is more popular.

Remember: The best restaurant is at its best when its best chef is on duty. All restaurants "suffer" to an extent when that individual is absent from the kitchen.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Without a doubt, I would pick Citrico's. The food is much better than California Grill, and the wait staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. We loved our dinner there!
