Any word on when, if ever they are returning? They are one of our family's favourite things to watch while at WDW. Some of our best memories were made by these little skits.
We will be so sad if they are cut for good.

Nobody knows to what extent they will be appearing in the future.
Sadly, their numbers were well on the wane before the covid closures.

OP I can't believe they cut them too. They were one reason HS was so popular. It was fun to watch the interactions with the guests. It felt like you were getting a little extra "for free" while at HS.
Cutting things like this feels like they are cutting the soul out of disney.
I hope they come back too, but doubt it with the way things are going.

They were one of the things we missed in April and October. I was hoping they would be back in October even though I had not read anything about them being back. Now hoping for spring. They were always fun to watch.

Over the last few years they have been slowly cutting the cast to a smaller group. I really hope they realize that these things are what give guests satisfaction when the lines are huge. My husband doesn't ride big rides, so it's these things that make the price of admission worth it for us. I hope Disney realizes that the rides are good, but what makes Disney special from all the other theme parks is the cast members, and the little fun touches such as these funny people.
If we had an hour or two to spare on check out day, we would inevitably head over to HS, grab a coffee and a carrot cake cookie, sit on a bench and watch the Citizens of Hollywood.

They are a favorite of ours and I want them back so bad but I don't think that's going to happen. I think the higher ups see DHS as a thriving park with all of the new rides and lands. CoH isn't "needed" in their eyes.

I hope you are wrong, but sadly I fear you are probably right.
The weird thing is that I see them as more important. With such long wait times for these rides, you need something for people to do other than rides... or for Grandma and Grandpa to do while they wait, or for those that don't love rides. They really add to the enjoyment of the day. Customer satisfaction is what will keep people coming back. If I'm just waiting in long lines all day, I might not come back. That is true for us. If our next few trips are just line ups and rides, we will have to rethink our Disney vacations.
