It's a nice outlet mall. Really long and there is a Disney store, along with most other outlet stores you can think of. I'd recommend it if you specifically want outlet mall shopping.

I wouldn't recommend Commerce for visiting. It's not a particularly nice area.

Ashley0139 When you say "it's not a particularly nice area" do you mean not much to do or do you mean its a sketchy/un-safe area? is the mall area safe to walk around in? it will probably be just be me and my kids shopping while husband does something else that day. is it safe to go ?

We liked them last time we were in the US. Stopping at the Disney store on our way down to DL was great! Had all the stores we wanted to visit, was easy to get to and parking a breeze. The only other outlet malls we've been to is the Outlets by the Border which were ridiculously huge! I found the Citadel ones a bit more manageable with DH and kids in tow.

Mall area is perfectly fine-was there yesterday. The rest of the area around the outlets is very industrial. But there is plenty of parking at the outlets (lots plus large parking structure), so you don’t really need to leave the outlet property.

But I wouldn’t plan on doing a whole trip out there for the stores. If you’re going that way anyways and it’s not a big inconvenience, go ahead. But nothing much better than other outlets and you could end up getting caught in traffic on the 5.

If you're just looking for an outlet mall, The Outlets at Orange is about a 15 minute drive from DL. They don't have a Disney store outlet though.

For nearby activities, there's a Dave and Buster's in the mall itself, and about a ten minute drive away, there's the Discovery Cube (kids' science museum.)

Commerce als has the Commerce Casino which I believe is the largest card room this side of the Mississippi. Just drop DH off there to play poker and you will be able to shop ALL DAY LONG!

...other than that, not much enticing in Commerce. Citadel is nothing special compared to many other outlet malls.Worth a trip if you don't have an outlet mall near by you but not that much better than most to warrant a special trip.

The city of Commerce is an ugly industrial area for the most part. The Citadel is beautiful and I'm not really sure how something so beautiful came out of such an ugly area. The Citadel has an interesting history though, which I won't get into here. Anyway, the outlets themselves are fine. Just don't go anywhere else in the area if it's just you and the kids. Depending on how much you like shopping, it's about a 1-3 hour trip at most.

We visited Citadel a few years ago - and whilst things * may * have changed, even though it is an outlet mall, the prices were not that cheap. Especially when compared to the Premium Outlets; though I can understand the distance involved in traveling to those (Camarillo and Cabazon / Desert Hills) that people wouldn't ordinarily visit. Traveling there for us, as we're visiting from the UK, is more than a good deal because we can buy cheaper actual branded clothing there. Yes, a lot of them are seconds or end-of-line but still good quality.
