Hi everyone :)

I've not posted on here for a long time, but am regularly on here looking for tips and thoughts for our upcoming trip in August.

I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts are on Cirque and the BMG.... Which show do people prefer? We are a family of 5 - dd's will be 17, 14 & 12. I'm leaning more towards Cirque and think my girls will prefer it. Not sure about DH, but as this is my treat I'm not giving him much choice :rotfl:

Also, where do you buy your show tickets from? Have just priced Cirque up with Disney and it seems quite a bit more expensive than using a UK agent. Will level 2 seating be decent enough?

TIA

Rachael:)

It is hard to say which is preferable as they are very different.

For me, Cirque has more of a 'wow' factor whereas BMG is more entertaining.

We have seen Cirque twice and I still am amazed by what I see. Given a straight choice (and all other factors such as cost, location etc. aside) I would probably choose Cirque.

As for tickets, we have bought them on the day at the Box Office once - had Tier 3 seating which was OK but hard to see some of the stuff going on at the back of the stage (and there is stuff going on literally everywhere all of the time). Last time we had seats right next to the stage, which was amazing as you really felt completely immersed in the whole performance. we were lucky that time to get DVC member discount and got a great deal on tickets. I liked being able to pick where we sat. Having said that, it is still really enjoyable no matter where you're sitting and others may be able to comment on where exactly that would likely be if you bought through a UK agent.

I can't give you a comparison as we have only been to Cirque, not BMG.

I can't say enough good things about it. It is just as they say -not a bad seat in the house and the show is quite literally breathtaking. I took my 9 year old with to see it and had my doubts as to whether it would hold her attention all the way through. She sat perched on the edge of her seed in wide-eyed wonder all the way through and as we stood up to leave she asked "Can we watch it again?"

I have heard amazingly good reviews on BMG as well, but can't offer firsthand experience as we have not (yet) been.

I bought my Cirque tickets directly from the Cirque website and they were cheaper than Disney. I opted to collect them at the box office so we didnt' have to worry about remembering to bring them with us :thumbsup2

We saw Cirque many years ago and I came out very disappointed, I had read so many reviews saying how fantastic it was, yes it is good but I was not blown away and certainly didn't think it was worth the full price without discount.
A while later we saw 'O' in Vegas, even more disappointed than La Nouba. I can see they are very good at what they do but they are not my kind of shows. I like Threatre, plays, musicals, almost everything I have ever seen on stage but Cirque shows don't really do it for me.
Saying that I did give La Nouba a 2nd chance when I got discounted tickets via Travelzoo mainly to please DW as she likes them, I enjoyed it more the 2nd time(probably because I paid about half price:lmao:)

On the other hand Blue Man Group, absolutely amazing, going again this year (thanks Mart:thumbsup2) they have just changed their routine so hope it is as good as before. A mixture of humour, rock music, colour, it has everything.

Yes same here..also they say not a bad seat in the house but actually I thought there was. We had a side view and found that we couldn't actually see all the show and at that time, not sure if its the same now, all the tickets for all the seats cost the same! Mind you I did go and see LOVE in Vegas and I can honestly say that it was a wonderful show. But on the whole not a huge fan of Cirque shows.
Have never seen BMG but its on our list to do so hopefully in September we will get around to it. Seen clips on youtube and feel we may enjoy this more.:)

Thanks for your thoughts so far :thumbsup2

I'm now thinking that BMG would possibly suit all of our family more as hubby likes humour and rock music, although is not a fan of shows in general, but may enjoy this. I don't think I'd be too pleased paying for Cirque for him to doze off during it :furious:

It will be our 18th wedding anniversary whilst we are there and also whilst we are staying at RPR, so that may fit in nicely as a bit of a celebration

Would you suggest buying the tickets for either show before we leave or waiting until we get there? Just thinking being August they may get pretty full.

Can't believe this will be our sixth trip and we still haven't seen either of the shows

I would buy in advance if you know when you want to go.
I got an email last night from Universal offering us $35pp off for AP holders but only upto June 17th.

wayneg - was that a code offer or something you could share? I just made an APH reservaton at RPH today, I haven't purchased the AP yet - but I will before checking in. We will be there 6/17-20 so I'd be up for Blue Man Group on the 17th :)

Thanks!

A discount on BMG tickets is available to anyone with a Universal AP at any time. I suspect that this is a special price available only until the date Wayne has quoted but still open to all AP holders.

You have to call the Passholder telephone number to purchase BMG tickets with an Annual pass (or you did last time I bought them). If you haven't actually purchased your AP yet, this might not work for you.

IIRC, if you don't have any luck on the Passholder line, you can try the normal box office and tell them you have (or will have) an Annual Pass and see if they will give you the discount. I think you can only do will-call for the tickets, though, if you use that option and then, obviously, would have to show your AP when you pick them up.

Haven't seen BMG or Cirque in Orlando to be honest but we watched 'O' when we were at The Bellagio in Vegas a few years ago and totally loved it! Cirque is on our 'to do' list for this time! :)

I really appreciate your replies :)

After speaking to my dd's (hubby works out in Middle East), we've decided that we're going to see BMG. Although we think us girls would probably prefer Cirque, we don't think dh would appreciate the wow factor of it. It's good to keep everyone happy ;)

Now I just have to decide which point of the holiday we go. We will be staying at RPR for our first 3 nights before moving to OKW for 14 nights. I know it would make more sense to go whilst we are staying in Universal, but I can't figure out a definite time for the show and I'm thinking that if it's too late, we'll be shattered with our initial early mornings. Maybe I'll opt for the middle of the holiday when we don't have an early morning planned the following day
