Hey everyone! We have decided to take a trip to WDW in May! I want to see Cirque, but my DH is not sure if it's worth the money. I need your opinions! Also, does anyone know if tier 1 seating is really better than tier 2? Will my sons 10/7 be ok? How long is the show? Help me decide! Thanks.

This was one thing we were most looking forward too as we've seen cirque's mystere in Las Vegas. We paid the extra money for tier 1 seating just for the fact as we'd had tier 1 in Vegas and though it was worth every penny. Our seats were great, but you could have seen from anywhere in the theater, so tier 1 in WDW isn't worth the extra $. Beyond that the show was just Disappointing. It was barely an hour, whereas the Vegas show was almost 2 for the same price and it was just so much more impressive and had much more inspiring music. I suppose if you've never seen a Cirque show before it might be worth it, but we really regret the $80/pp we spent on this, and we might have even if we weren't comparing it to Mystere. I know most seem to really enjoy it, but I think there are much better ways to spend your money in WDW.

We really really enjoyed the show, but that's a good question--is it worth the high $$$$? It is nothing like we had ever seen before and haven't seen other Cirque shows, so we weren't disappointed. It definitely seemed longer than an hour. We probably would not spend the money again on it, but I am glad we saw it once. You might try combing the discounts on mousesavers.com - at one point maybe a year ago, they were offering discounts I think to annual passholders. You never know if something might be offered.

I don't remember what tier 1 or tier 2 means, but we were told the better seats were higher up, so we were higher and weren't disappointed...I don't think where you are seated would make or break it for this show.

Good luck!

I did not have any prior shows "under my belt" other than the shows I've seen on PBS, etc.

We sat in Tier 2 pretty close to the center on the 3rd row. I have no idea how long it was, I was so engrossed in the show and how fantastic the performers were. I do remember that there was an intermission. I found the show to be fantastic, not to mention the fact that the music was live and I didn't see the people who were creating the music until 1/2 way through the show!!

After it was over, my 13 y.o. son told me it was the best thing he'd ever seen!! We've been to several Broadway shows & he's never said that. We enjoyed it so much that we'll be going to the Alegria show in Philly in July.

So, like everything else, it's just your opinion. . . . . :wave2:

My DDs (21 and 17) have wanted to see Cirque for years, but my 19 yo DS did not want to go. I bought tickets for Christmas. We sat in the 2nd tier, 2nd row. My DS (the one who didn't want to go) said it was the best show he's ever seen. Now they want to go see other Cirque shows!!! I highly recommend it.
And it took me a while to find the live musicians.

Thank you all so much for your help! I suppose I could call and find out how long the show actually is. We have never seen a Cirque show before in person, so it would be something new. Perhaps we should compromise and take the tier 2 seats. Oh decisions, decisions. Please keep the opinions coming! You all are great!

According to everything I've read, the show is a full 90 minutes long. From Deb's site:
La Nouba weaves an unforgettable 90-minute tapestry of art, life and high drama on an Elizabethan-style stage in a 1,671-seat theater designed to engage and delight audiences.

We didn't have one... maybe that's why ours was so short? It was cut in half or something because of light attendance? The theater wasn't even half full. Someone mentioned they had an intermission and it was longer than an hour. I know our wasn't because we both commented on how could it be over as there was no intermission and then looked at our watches, it was 49 mins long, this was part of the disappointment. Why pay so much for such a short show?
Anyway, as I said before others seem to like it, but I definently wouldn't spend the extra for tier 1. As to our placement of tier 1 seating it was actually tier 2, but the first row which was a good place to be as far as seats go.

Nope, no intermission for La Nouba! One of the guide book tips is to have children use the restroom before the show, as there is no intermission. Wonder why your show would have been so short?

La Nouba is ~90 minutes long, plus a ~10 minutes "pre-show" clown act (warning on this matter: don't walk in alone at the last minute or you might find yourself part of the pre-show), and no intermission.

As to "Is it worth it?" That's a personal decision. To a majority of those that go see it, it is. To some it's just ain't their style. The same goes for pop concerts, Broadway shows, etc. My standard advice is to go out and buy one of the Cirque DVDs (preferably "Quidam", "Dralion", or "Saltimbanco") and watch it with your group. That will be the best barometer as to your question. I did this (having seen some Cirque on my own on A&E) and my wife's reaction was "We're going!!!" We've been twice since 2000 and we think we're going again in June.

Hi,
My husband and I have seen La Nouba three times already and just can't get over how great this show is and you don't even have time to look at your watch because the action is so fast. Time really flew! If you have never seen a Cirque show then I think you will be amazed! It is the best attraction at Disney World! Go and enjoy and the seating is circular so I wouldn't pay for the tier i seats. :)

Thank you so much for clearing that up! I knew I "read" that it was 90 minutes, but I've never been, so wasn't really 100% certain. It's nice to know what to expect. We're REALLY looking forward to seeing it! :hyper:

Yeay! I think everyone has convinced me to give it a try. We have watched Cirque on TV and have been amazed. After reading all your posts, I definitely will not spend the extra $ for tier 1 seating. Also, thanks for the heads up about the preshow as I would not like to become part of the show! I am so excited! Keep the opinions coming!::yes::

I would say the tickets are underpriced - it is a visual feast - understand however... this is no circus... it is a visual and audio artistic performance - very well choreographed, very colorful, odd scenarios... very fantasy oriented... dreamlike...surreal... very cool..but if you are expecting a "circus" - that it is not... no lions tigers elephants etc...

I have to agree with everyone else. I live locally and it took me four years to finally decide that I would spend the money to go see La Nouba and boy am I glad that I did. My friends all make fun of me now beacuse I am a Cirque addict. Since seeing La Nouba (4 times now) hubby and I have also see "O" and Mystere in Las Vegas, Varekai (3 times), Drallion, Quidam (twice with tickets to our 3 show) and Alegria. Our computer room in our house is all Cirque posters and souviners from the shows.

I guess you can tell that I would say definetly spend the money to see the show, it is like nothing you have seen. You really walk away thinking wow, how did they do that.

As for the seats, ANY seat in the La Nouba theater is a good seat. the Tier 2 seats used to be tier 1 as well (and at all other Cirque performances they would be considered tier 1 so while the lower level is nice the upper level is equally comprable :)

A number of folks we know that have gone, { we ourselves have not,} do not feel it was worth the extremley high price. I guess you won't know unless you go, but wouldn't it be a high price to pay if you really did not like it!

I live in Las Vegas and have seen all of the Cirque shows here several times because of guest that visit ... I have NEVER seen a Cirque show I didn't love. I have seen the show at WDW 3 times now and if you can go see it.. add it to your "TO DO" list

my wife and I went with my family in jan 03 and completely loved it. while it is quite expensive, I felt it was more then worth it ::yes:: the only live show I have ever seen that comes close is Blue Man Group(if you are ever in chi-town, my home town, or vegas check it out)and the two are too close to pick a favorite. regarding seating just about every seat is a good seat(theatre is not as large as it looks on the outside). I think you'll love it too :teeth:
