I am thinking about suprsing DH with CDS tix......how do most folks dress for this?Nice"church" type clothes?or shorts and t shirts?also..do I need to pay extra for the "good" seats or can we see anywhere?(we are both a lil bit short....do they have stadium seating?)TIA!!!! :cutie:

Church-type clothes are appropriate. I don't think I'd wear jeans or short to Cirque...it's a dressier event. But no need to dress to the nines.

HAVE FUN!

There is no real dress code. I have seen people very dressed up & others wearing shorts and T-shirts. I chose to dress somewhere inbetween.

Seats are assigned when you buy your tickets. There are different seating categories also. I wouldn't want to be in the first section by the stage because they have a trapeez act that is over your head, you would probably be looking directly up to see them. It is a nice theater, not HUGE so all of the seats are good unless you're sitting in the back at the end of a row against the wall.

Here is a map:

Do you recommend first tier or second tier seating? If I understand correctly, you are not recommending the first tier? Or just not the front part of the first tier??

I personally would recommend Category 1 or 2 Seats (Yellow & Orange) in section 203, 204, or 205. I would not want to sit in the first section because of the trapeez act over your head. I have seen Cirque twice, and both times were in the back section. I thought it was better because they have so much going on on the stage, you get a better overall view of everything. I guess if your the type of person who likes to see things up close, and the expressions on the preformers faces than the 100's section (up front) would be better.

Tickets are sold by categories, you pick a category and then they start selling the "better" seats (closer and towards center) first. You can ask what section/seat # you will be assigned when you buy the tickets - if you don't like the location, try a different day or showtime.

Perhap someone here has sat in the front section of the theater can tell you if viewing any part of the show was a problem?

We sat in the center of the front section (Row F one year, Row G the other), and really had no problem viewing anything. It's true you have to look up for a few of the acts, but I love sitting that close for the intimacy of it. The stage is just "right there" and you can really see the performers faces. It makes it easier to become absorbed in the performance (for me, anyway).

I always wear something nice to Cirque. Nothing fancy; just a nice pair of pants or a skirt and a sweater. I believe strongly that you should dress for the theater, even if you are at Disney World! But, having said that, I have seen people wear very casual things, looking like they just came from the parks.

Have a great time! La Nouba is absolutely wonderful!

We were in the first row in front of the stage and loved being so close up. You were able to see so many details - facial expressions included. I loved our seats!

Any thoughts on taking a 5 year old to cirque de soleil? He'll be making
his 3rd trip to DIS in May and we were considering trying this.

It is stadium seating, and there are "booster cushions" available for kids (at no charge) if they need it. I'd say closer to the middle is better than the far edges of the theater. When you walk into the theater you're on the on a level between the Cat 1 and Cat 2 seats (which IMHO are all you need to spend $$ for). One thing you might want to avoid are the few seats in the 2nd section that are DIRECTLY BEHIND the theater entrances (like section 204, row EE or FF, don't remember which) . There are lights there that hang slightly above the opening and makes it a little difficult for shorter people to see over when sitting in those seats (hard to explain but I'm 4'11" and had to switch seats w/ DH to avoid behind right there). We were there in HOT summer and wore nice shorts, fit right in - especially at the early show.
Have fun!

Most just go in what they have been wearing all day. There are some who make a big evening out of it with dinner prior to the show and PI after... they tend to wear anything from nice slacks to cocktail dresses. It is pretty much "anything goes"!

As for seating, we think the best seating is in the 2nd tier section 204 toward the front of the section. That way you aren't looking straight up at the performers as you will in the lower section but are still close enough to catch all of the facial expressions. If you can't get 204, either 203 or 205 are fine!
