On a recent trip to OKW I took a walk on the usual path starting at building 55. This time I did not cross the bridge but stayed on the Cirque side. The walk was beautiful and led past Cirque around pleasure island to DTD where I took the trumbo ferry back home. It only takes 45 minutes or so and is my very best memory of that trip.

We have done this too. I didn't time it though, because I HAD to stop and shop a little!!:)

I jogged it several years ago, the entire circle. I went by the Tree Houses, then by the Disney Institute (now SSR), by downtown Disney and Pleasure Island, then back to OKW. I think it is better then, but that area had few sidewalks back then.

I find the walking/jogging around the Boardwalk/Beach Club circle (both out by the road and on the boardwalk) much safer and more pleasant.

I would not use the walkway at night. Even though most of the route is lighted, the part from the old Treehouse Villas bridge to OKW is not lighted and the paved area is somewhat uneven.

In daylight it is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy a stroll along the Trumbo Canal. We've enjoyed watching Osprey and River Otter along the way.

Enjoy!

I wouldn't do it at night either. LOL! Every time I take that path I remember the blind family we have met on several of our Jan. OKW trips. They are a husband, wife and son who are all blind and travel with 2 German Shepherd guide dogs. We helped them onto the ferry one evening a couple years ago, and had a good chat all the way over to DTD and back. The son was asking about the path to DTD, and I said it followed the canal, but wasn't well lit. He laughed and said that wouldn't matter to him, since he could fall in the canal night or day! We ran into this family again last month. What delightful DVC owners they are. I always think of them when I think of the path.

We stayed in building 55 two summers ago, my parents surprised us with Cirque tickets and stayed with the kids one night while we went to the show (excellent by the way), after the show we were going to walk over to DTD and take the ferry back or the bus but I suggested that we just walk the path. My wife didn't believe that a path actually exisited (but I had heard about it here) so I talked her into it. It was absolutley delightful, strolling back to OKW on a warm summers evening hand in hand with my sweetheart. I'm not sure if this is the one you are speaking of, but we walked at twilight (9:00ish) and it was great.:D

Yes, that's the path, and it must have been a moonlit night for you to find your way if you had not been on it before!:teeth:

It's possible that I am remembering it incorrectly, but I thought there were lights (almost like small street lights....6 to 8 feet high)along parts of the walkway.

There are lights part of the way, but not the whole way.
