Cinderella's table was on our list of things we were going to do in June. However, after we saw the $400 bill lunch was going to cost us, DH and I have decided that seemed like a lot for our family of 3 kids, 4 adults, and a teen. So my question is are we really missing something if we don't go?

We've had dinner at CRT once in 2008. We used the dining plan.

While it was really cool to be in the castle, I don't know that I'd pay OOP for it especially with that many people. I wouldn't spend $400 for lunch unless Walt himself was sitting there at our table!

Have you looked into 1900 Park Faire at the Grand Floridian? We had dinner there last year - 3 little kids, 2 teens (boys), and 5 adults. It was a favorite meal for EVERYONE in our party!

We actually ate at the Castle twice during our recent 2 week trip(we were on the Dlx DP tho) and had breakfast and dinner during Wishes. Our 4 yr old DS enjoyed it as much,if not more than his 6 yr old sister!! It was amazing and we loved it,however if I was paying OOPI would def choose breakfast,as its the cheapest meal you can eat there!! I would say its a must do,at least once! There's.just something special about watching them excitedly run up the spiral staircase and see that room with the princesses walking around!
Akershus,in Epcot, has the same regal feel and same wonderful princesses though and is much cheaper! You feel as though you are in a castle there. I have to say 1900 Park Fare was our least favorite in terms of ambiance&food-we feel as though you are just put into a hotel conference room with standard buffet food, that's hit&miss in terms of quality. We've only been for dinner though and while the wicked stepsisters&Lady Tremaine are AMAZING in terms of character dining,it just doesn't feel as "magical" as CRT or Akershus. Just my opinion of course!
Hope you have an amazing trip!

Just did CRT last week. We stayed off site so it was OOP. Cost me $147 for 2 adults and a child. It was girls only and the price was steep for the food (although the food was very tasty). But, the experience was worth it. It was exciting for the two little girls, the maitre'd made sure every princess stopped at our table. Would I do it again? Maybe not? Might try Akershus next time we visit, if my daughter still loves princesses.

Every family has a unique tolerance for what is "worth" what to them. We have been to CRT 3 times now over a 10-year time span, and we've paid for it out of pocket each time (we never thought it was "worth" 2 dining credits, but we had no problem paying OOP, LOL). We went twice for breakfast when our kids were much younger, and my daughter's one request for her Sweet 16trip was dining in the castle again; we tried it for lunch that trip because that is just how it fit into our schedule. Would we go back? Absolutely! Do we need to? No, but I'm so glad we have had the experience!

We have always felt that in WDW, we usually get what we pay for, so if something is very expensive, it's *usually* super-awesome. We have been to both Akershus and 1900 PF, and while they are cheaper, and great experiences themselves, they both lack that extra pixie dust that IMO only the inside of Cinderella Castle can deliver. To me, $50 PP (averaged out over the number of people in your party) doesn't sound all that crazy for a once-in-a-lifetime experience your family may always cherish (keep in mind, I am from New York, and living is generally expensive around here...I could barely go out for a nice lunch WITHOUT princesses and wand ceremonies for $50 LOL). That said, your vacation will be magical with or without CRT. In the end, only you can decide what's "worth it" to YOU.

We are doing breakfast for my three girls 5, 3, & 2. I want the experience while they love princesses but I also wanted the cheapest meal!

I thought it was cool eating in the castle, but all 7 of us agreed that it was the WORST (non-cs) meal we have ever had in WDW. The food was just terrible. It didn't help that our waiter was the polar opposite of what we expected. Even with all the negatives though, my dad still talks about wanting to go back. Being up there and looking out the windows at the park...nothing like it!

Depends. We live in FL -- but we never go because the only girl in our family would not actually understand the experience to begin with so we skip the castle. I'd recommend just going to Crystal Palace and skip it - $400 would not justify for our family. No one in our family wants it that bad.

I have went there for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner and I still enjoy Akerhaus more. I think the food and experience are better at Akerhaus. 1900 Park Fare dinner was horrible. I would only eat there for Breakfast.

I think you should do it at least once. It isn't an every trip thing because of the cost and then it loses its "specialness". One of my favorite pics/memories is of my son closing his eyes and making a wish during dinner. I went for dinner and it was good!
