I have adr for dinner and read the reviews on all ears and they are not good. Anyone been there lately? for 2 credits I want yummy food! For us its about eating a good meal in the castle not about the princesses. what should I do?? TIA:surfweb:

Neither....just average food. Not worth 2 TS credits in my opinion. If you are not going for the princesses, there are MUCH better places for food.

Yuck, in my opinion  Go see the princesses at Akershus in Epcot-Norway. Way better food and great character interaction.

Eta: we have only been to CRT for dinner. I've heard breakfast is a bit better.

Exact opposite for us. CRT had some amazing food and Akershus was so-so. Both experiences were at dinner in May 2011.

I had braised Cobia which was outstanding, best fish I've ever had at a WDW restaurant. I don't recall what my wife had, maybe beef tenderloin? I do recall she enjoyed it. DD6 had the kids fish and I had a bite of hers, while not as good as my cobia, it was very good. DD4 ate her dinner, I think this was one night where she had a kiddie entree like pizza or something similar.

Character interaction was the same as Akershus but we had dinners after 7 at each location, so we weren't in the full dinner rush for either location.

Akershus was plain and salty.

We will make CRT a must do for each trip. I doubt we will return to Akershus.

The food was just so-so for us. I most definitely don't think it's worth 2 TS credits. Unless you want to see the Princesses, there are better places to eat for 1 TS credit.

In fact, DH was still hungry afterwards and took a detour to Columbia Harbour House to get something to eat to fill him up.

food maybe average when you are working out against the cost and I think this causes most moans.

We think of it this way - the most famous theme park in the world is the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

The most famous icon of the most famous theme park in the world is Cinderella's castle - people know it the world over.

The only way you can tour the castle is to pay extra - yes please.

The photo, food and princesses are just an added bonus.

What's not to love?

Not worth 2TS credits IMO, we had dinner there and I wasn't impressed. The best part is the interaction with princesses. My daughter has requested it again this year, so we're going to give it a go round again but with breakfast. :upsidedow

We were there in December, it was actually our favorite ADR not just because of the princesses but we loved the food. The princesses were really cute and they were flirting with my 14 yr old 5'10" son.. saying things like oh my you're a tall handsome prince what brings you to my land.. things like that he was blushing it was sweet and funny.

There were 5 of us ages 12 and up and we all agree it was our favorite meal!

Awwww, thats cool, lol.

It's amazing to see the disparity between experiences here. I've only got the one time to go off of myself.

I do recall when we were there that quite a few people were ordering the fried chicken. I couldn't believe it! Fried chicken with so many other choices on the menu.

I overheard one table saying their fried chicken was nothing special, after ordering a standard heart of lettuce salad... ummmm, how special can fried chicken and a heart of a lettuce head be? lol. No wonder they thought it was a rip off :headache:

Anyway, I always like to ask "What did you eat?" to get an idea of where they are coming from. I hate to say it, but if they ordered the fried chicken and then complained about it being over priced, I'm not putting much weight on their review.

I have a friend who comes back from WDW tomorrow, I'll ask him how his CRT dinner was. He went to the MK with his wife and two children on leap day. I'm curious to hear his report for a number of reasons. 1- he knows good food and 2 it's recent. He will also be 100% honest with me.

Food is yuck! We've only been once and have never had any desire to go back! We'll take our kids somewhere else to see the princesses!

oh my! Seems 50/50 Im so torn as what to do? I was thinking my DH and I would end up eating the Roasted Beef Tenderloin anyone have that recently? Im so torn! Atleast I have a few months to ponder!

I have to agree with MinnieBride. The food is average, not worthy of 2 TS credits. I feel that Disney can get the 2 TS ONLY because you are eating in the castle. Princesses are also at Akershus, and although its not "The Castle", the atmosphere is similar and well worth it.

We've done it and now we can say "yeah, we ate there", but we won't be back. Sorry. :(

My what a thoughtful post, so full of insight! :cool2:

So my friend is back and I had a chance to get around to asking him about his experience at CRT.

OMDD and the castle-
He arrived at 9:30pm for his 9:45 reservation. He of course had to wait until 9:35 to sign in, which ticked him off a bit, as did I when I went in May.

Then CRT was over booked. He said he didn't get seated until 11:30pm.

The server seemed like she had way too many tables to deal with and the place was packed.

He had the beef tenderloin and said it was dry. He didn't care for the food at all.

They did have a great time, his daughter loved the character interactions and that she was "in" Cinderellas home.

He is glad he went but not pleased with the quality of the food or the extremely long wait.

Well we loved it! We ate there last May before EMH, we were not on a dinning plan so we didn't look at it as using 2 TS. DD's BF went with us and he had never eaten at the castle and we haven't since breakfast when she was little so our expectations were very low to a point we were dreading it but we had a wonderful meal. Yes I got the fried chicken and like it, DH and DD got the beef tenderloin, and BF got the braised cobia. We also thought the appetizers and desserts were Delicious too. I understand everybody is different and we all like different things that what makes us all so special so I would say if eating at the Castle is something you have always wanted to do, go for it, if not then look at other places either way just remember your at DISNEY!

YUM - princesses
YUCK - food

You go to CRT for the Castle and Princesses, not the food.

Exactly this.:thumbsup2 OP you said that the object of eating in this restaurant was to eat good food, not to meet the princesses. The 2TS price is totally related to the desire of little girls (and their parents) to spend time with their favourite princesses. And they will tolerate high prices and poor quality food in order to do so. As long as the parents are aware of this, then that's fine.

Do yourself a favour: use your TS credits to better advantage and find a restaurant where you have a better chance for a satisfying (sp?) meal.

It's not the best food you can get for 2 credits, but everyone should experience it at least once. We're not into characters at all, but I love the atmosphere. We've only been for breakfast, so I can't offer an opinion on dinner.

As far as CRT vs. PSB (Akershus), we pay OOP & would choose CRT over PSB any time. We think the food is better at CRT. To me, the atmosphere @ PSB doesn't even compare to eating in the castle. Like some, we will return to CRT, but probably won't try PSB again. I think many reviews are heavily influenced by the DDP perceived value.

Throwing in another "yuck" vote:sick: I was not impressed with food. Being in the castle with the princesses was a whole other experience and probably the only reason I can say it was worth it. For the price, I'd say it's a "one time thing." My beef was very very rare and extremely salty. I don't think we even cleaned our plates.

On the other hand, we were there during Wishes with the princesses, which was a spectacular experience.

We enjoyed the food both times we had dinner there, but we haven't been in 2 years so I don't know how much it has changed. It wasn't our absolute favorite food of the whole trip, but I would definitely give it a "yum" as opposed to "yuck" :) And the beef tenderloin sounds like what my DH would have had, but I don't remember for sure. I did think that the dinner food was far better than the breakfast food, which was just so-so the one time we did it.
