We have never eaten at either of these restaurants and I have heard the main difference is the character experience. We have two boys (9/12) and they have been on several cruises and we are going on another one after a day at Magic Kingdom. Trying to decide which restaurant is best.

I think the food is a bit better at BOG for lunch and dinner, but CRT is better for breakfast. I'm assuming your boys aren't super interested in the princesses (if so, CRT is the way to go!), so BOG may be slightly cheaper, with better food! Happy travels! :)

It depends on when you want to go. If you are looking for breakfast then I would suggest CRT bc BOG's breakfast is on the expensive side and you really don't get much for what you pay, at least that is my conclusion from other people's posts and also from what I have seen menu wise on the walt disney website. If you are going for dinner than I would suggest BOG because I really like their dinner menu and also because your boys would get to meet the Beast. That was the highlight of my 9yr old sons trip last year, lol. If you are going for lunch its pretty much a toss up. Eating in Cinderella's castle is pretty awesome, but not sure how 2 older boys would feel about meeting the princesses. Also lunch at BOG is considered quick service so it shouldn't take as long as eating at CRT so you wouldn't miss as much park time.

If your family isn't specifically interested in eating in the castle and meeting princesses, I would go to BOG. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is definitely better than CRT IMHO. I would only spend the $$ on CRT if people were really interested in the castle/princess experience.

They ae different. CRT is mainly a Princess experience, with the food playing second fiddle. Now I like Lunch and dinner in the Castle and have never had a complaint, but you are paying more for interactions and experience than you are for the food. Now BOG dinner is much different. No characters wandering through, so you are less likely to have all that goes with that interrupting your meal. The Beast is there at dinner, so you do have a M&G opportunity. As much as I believe that the Castle is a must do at one point, if you are cost conscious I would choose BOG for value with a Castle tossed in.
