That is why the Turrets are being painted silver-to prepare for the "ice" to be overlayed-and why Anna & Elsa are moving to Magic Kingdom:)!

Disney just feels like an OSCAR winner deserves this honor!:)

You're a couple weeks early with this. I think this would be a much more appropriate post on April 1.;)

How many times do you think we will see this pop up as a rumor heard from a CM? Or a friend of friend whose dog said......:lmao::listen:

The turrets aren't really being painted silver, are they?

At first people were reporting the silver was just a primer for the blue. But now there are reports that the silver will stay to help with the projection show on the castle. :(

Sounds silly, but honestly, that would push me over the edge. Why not just paint Spaceship Earth red? One of my favorite pastimes, sitting on a bench in the hub with a box of popcorn is gone. Now they're going to change the beautiful look of the castle after 40 years?

I'm not one to fret over general changes to the parks, but the castle seems sacrosanct. Have the turrets always been blue?

I'm with you on this. There is no single change that is a tipping point for me because I accept that change is necessary for progression, and even for preservation, so like it or not, we deal with it and move on until we adjust and it becomes the new normal. But it feels like there are way too many changes that have changed Disney and taken the entire package and turned it into something foreign. It's not just the big changes - and there have been some BIG changes - it's the 'little things' that seem to be happening on a continuous basis.

So in short, I don't think what you say sounds silly at all. You've just identified a big issue.

Annnnnnd the Imagineers were just messing with people, the turrets are back to blue today. Phew!

Except for the year and a half they were giant birthday candle (although they did have blue at the base of the candle)

Oh, right! I never saw that in person, but I certainly have seen the general sentiment regarding the birthday cake castle around the forums. ;)

HAHA, good one, you made me look! Actually, you made me yell, "WHAT?!!" :rotfl2:

You really got me! I was about to boycott Disney! I'm all about innovation and change but the castle is an icon!

I happened to have AP that year and made 2 trips to WDW. I didn't care for it at first, but the birthday cake castle grew on me over time but I was also glad when it was "back to normal".

The castle was a cake when DH and I were there on our honeymoon. It holds a special place in my heart. I can't wait to see what they do in 2021 when it is their 50th and my 25th. :)
