O.k. I went as a small child with my mom and to this day I feel bad my hard working mom had to spend so much money for a bad meal with horrible service. However since that is the only way to get up in the dinning room I am planning a lunch there this trip. My dd who is 16 has never been and always wanted to see the inside. I do remember the dinning room and did feel like a princess when I went.
Since this meal will cost us to TS on the DDP please someone tell me the food and service are wonderful now. Or is there a way to get up there with out the meal?

We are doing it off the dining plan and paying cash for breakfast. It would be 2ts on the plan (I dont think it is worth that) and DD is begging to go as she hasnt gone the last 2 times.

Breakfast b/c I am a vegetarian, its easy to get food I like for breakfast. Its a little less in cost, and its pretty safe. I figure you would have to try to wreck breakfast food!

I took DD6 for breakfast in Sept and would do it again in a heartbeat. We had fabulous service. I think the food was fine but not the reason we went. She was totally treated like a princess. Her shoe slipped off her foot and the Fairy Godmother came rushing over and said "oh just like Cinderella, you girls just can't keep those shoes on your feet" and helped her put it back on before rushing off for the wishing ceremony. She came back later to sign the book but it was that little extra attention that sticks out.

We have done it several times and loved it. YOu can read more in my trip report. The link is in my sig.

I read part of your report and
1. Would you please tell me how to get the slipper dessert?Do you order ahead or at the time of the meal?
2. Your trip looked like a blast.
3. Thanks for easing my mind about the meal.

and everything was wonderful. I could have done without the long wait to see Cindy (she should just mingle upstairs with the others) and the "free" photo package, but the service and food was very good.

I have heard others prefer Akershus, but we went there also (after CRT) and the place is so big that the princesses said, "Hello, do you want my picture, good bye" and there was nothing special about their interaction. I think we liked the CRT food better, but in all honesty we weren't that hungry when we arrived in Norway.

My kids are 5/8 and we loved it. I would definitely go back. Have fun!

Ate breakfast there 2 years ago, was the most over priced meal that I had ever eaten at WDW, in the past 10 years of going every year. 10 years ago the food for food was very good. It's been going steadily down hill ever since. I can only speak about our last meal there 2 years ago. It may be better now.

You are all making me a little nervous. I've never eaten there....but am planning to when we go again.
Oh well, even if the food is bad at least I can say I was up in the castle! lol:woohoo:

The food is not bad, it is just some people do not feel it is worth 2 meal credits. We have been for breakfast with our granddaughter age 4 at the time and it was wonderful. We had a group of 5. Service was great and we enjoyed the meal.

My DH and I went back in Feb 06 for our 30th anniversary for dinner on our exact anniversary. We were treated great. Received Champagne glasses and a magic moment certificate. We enjoyed the meal and had great service.

We will be going back in July with the other grandchildren who have never been to wdw and again in November with my son's girlfriend (age 23 and her mom) neither have ever been to wdw at all and are so excited. We will pay out of pocket for the breakfast both times as we do not feel that the 30.00 cost is equivalent to 2 TS credits. But we have had great service and the magic of the place is great.:goodvibes

Exactly, its all for the magic and the atmosphere lol.
Thanks for the reply!

We went for dinner and I LOVED it! Definately more for the atmosphere than for the food, but the food was still fine. To me, the castle and mickey are the 2 great symbols of disney and to eat in the castle at least one time is a must. Try, if possible, to request a table near the windows. We were on the second tier of seating and I wished we were on the main floor near the windows. Cinderella receives guests in the lobby for photo shoots and autographs and the fairy godmother and 2 mice were upstairs in the restaurant. If it weren't for the 2 table service credits, we would eat here at every trip. Waiting in the lobby, walking up the curving stairs, seeing the room when you first walk in the restaurant is a great experience. Just a suggestion, but if you are using DDP credits, you may want to consider dinner instead of lunch. Same TS credits but you can go back to your room and freshen up for the photos. We didn't and felt completely sweaty and frumpy. I wouldn't even get in the pictures, had the 3 kids photoed alone instead. I really feel like if they got rid of the "free" photo package, they could offer this meal for only 1 TS credit and it would be a better value for guests. Have a great time!

We went for dinner last month while we were in Disney...was it the best meal we've had? No, but it wasn't as horrible as some people's reports would lead you to believe. I can understand why using 2 TS might not seem worth it to people (we pre-paid so didn't use any credits for the meal).

And it was worth it to see DD's face as she met Cinderella, the mice and the Fairy Godmother.

We went last May for breakfast and the food/service was nice. The chef even came out presonally to talk to me about DS's allergies and provided him with a speical plate. I don't think it's worth 2 TS, though. We pre-paid OOP. It was fun for DD, but we won't be doing it again soon as it is so expensive for what you get. Bottom line for us is that is is worth the money to do it once for the experience, but not an every trip kind of place.

Go and enjoy. The food will be fine, but you're really paying for the ambience - and it's spectacular! :)
