Cinderella’s Gala Feast

We just ate there in May. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about it!!

The restaurant is beautiful! The characters where EXCELLENT. The characters were: Cinderella, Prince Charming, Suzy & Perla (the mice). They all came around to our table at least 3 times each. The mice even stayed awhile to play with my son.

The food...was probably the best we've had at Disney. Everything we had was absolutely wonderful! The children's selections were great and the dessert bar was awesome. The seafood pasta was to die for, the salmon was perfect, everything was just soooooooooo good!

I HIGHLY recommend this one...and we will definitely be doing it again next year!

Delicious food both breakfast and dinner! IMO since Cape May has cut back on it's dessert selections it's the best onsite buffet!

We went last december with my DD 3 1/2 (now 4.5) and DD 10mo + Grandparents.

My little Princess wore her Cinderella dress, with the gloves of course.

Was petrified of Fairy Godmother (at first... more later) and was shy with Cindy herself -- was scared of the mice. My baby was enthralled with the Mice and interacted like crazy. They were great and came back several times to our table. I kept waiting for Prince Charming.... waiting... went to the restroom with DD --- as I was walking back into the room he came striding over and said -- "well, Princess, I've been waiting for you!"

It was all great fun! Food was really very good for buffet style food. The arrangement of how you get to it is a little awkward. But just deal with it.

so - back to the Fairy Godmother -- in case you don't know how it works... she is at the entrance area. When we were leaving we wanted photos with her --- DD was still very scared. Fairy Godmother bent down and was calmly whispering in her ear - and was soooo kind... and so fairy godmother like that she won over our DD! Beaming photo with Fairy Godmother.

It really was pretty magical.

How far in advance do you have to book this? I'm planning a trip in December and I've never heard of this. Can you share some details? Thanks!!

It was very important to our DD that we do this, so we called right at the 90 day mark. It's just like all the other PS's or I guess ADR's now, that you can call at 90 days. I'm not sure if it was one we could have waited until 30 or 60 days out, but we didn't want to take the chance and end up not getting in. We had a late dinner time...around 8ish, but the food was still hot and fresh and the characters took their time at each table.

It's at 1900 Park Fare restaurant at the Grand Floridian. It's a beautiful restaurant at a beautiful resort. The characters are great! The food is buffet style and is excellent quality. If you're interested, you should really give it a try....I honestly don't think you'll be disappointed :cloud9:

It sounds wonderful! I have 2 little princesses that would just LOVE this! I was thinking that this might be the one in the castle itself. Do they still do that one too? What would make it different from the Gala, other than the location? Also, how did you dress for the dinner (aside from the little ones in princess dresses? ;) )

Shelbelle6, it's very casual, park attire is fine. The menu is super, prime rib on the dinner buffet, pasta station, a nice variety. There is a kids station with fries, chicken nuggets and mac & cheese. Be sure to try the sweet potato mash. It's mashed sweet potatoes and mashed redskin potatoes combined, sounds weird, tastes good. Sweeter than regular mashed potatoes but not as sweet as mashed yams alone. They also have cold strawberry soup on both the breakfast and dinner buffets. Interesting, like a melted strawberry shake. Character interaction is great, they seat the kids to the outside to make it easier for the characters to get to them. The breakfast buffet is good also, those characters are Pooh, Tigger, Mad Hatter Alice and Mary Poppins. Years ago it was a princess breakfast. To me it's worth the money and a lot less frantic than trying for CRT.

Is it less difiicult to book than CRT? That's a plus for me right there!! :teeth:

Well, I had Sue Ellen with Dreams book it for our April trip, she got us a PS for 6:30PM on a Saturday night. That was the earliest available and we didn't book 90 days out. I tried to move the time around later and they were completely booked. The funny thing is as we were going over for the PS we ran into friends from home that we were unaware were staying in the same GF building as us (Boca CHica). The husband and daughter were heading back to the room, they had just finished eating at 1900 PF. He said that his wife had just walked up after they checked in and asked if they had availability and they were seated. Guess some people are lucky. Or maybe they slipped them a $20? When we were in the MK the next morning talking about cancelling our PS for House of Blues on checkout day I called and got us 1900 PF for breakfast for the checkout day at 8:40AM. Maybe other people are courteous too. I try to be, if I find we won't need a PS I'll go ahead and cancel it to allow someone else a chance. I'd still try at 90 days out. Here is a link to a PS calculator that someone posted here once before. It helps you know when you can book the different things:

Enjoy your trip!

We love Cindrerella's Gala Feast. It's our traditional last night dinner. DDs wear their princess dresses and ds was thrilled when they gave him a crown to wear just like Prince Charming! The food was really good also.

I wish my ds's were still young enough to get excited about wearing a crown to dinner! At 11 and 13 I think they will just be tolerating the whole character thing for the sake of their little sisters!! :teeth:

LOVED this meal and will be doing it again . I think it was one of the best buffets we ate at. My daughter didnt want to wear her princess dress but was a little upset when she saw all the others doing it. A great selection for the children's food too ! LOTS of character interaction more than any other we went to .
Book it !

Last October we went to 1900 Park Fare for my DD's 3rd birthday and I have never been more dissapointed in my life - I found the food to be average - and the character guest ratio is low - we had eaten before Cinderella or Prince Charming ever made it to our table -

YMMV but I was so sad that this was her birthday dinner

we went back for Mary Poppins breakfast and LOVED it -

DITTO! We went on our last trip in January. First, the person that assigned the table wrote the table number illegibly, so the hostess could not sit us, as the table she thought we were assigned to was was not clean. Then the person that assigned the table came to our table to show us the pice of paper with the number on it and said that it wasn't his mistake and that his writing was just fine. (NOT), but why I had to know that was beyond me, and made us begin uncomfortably, like we were being chastized for the hostess not reading a number correctly.

Characters: We had to ask the CM with the characters to have Prince, and the one of the mice to come to the table before they left. The mouse never came. Cindy only came to take a picture as we were being seated, said have a nice night, and never returned, even though she went to the table next to us, DD 3 stood to have her come over again, I got the camera and video camera ready, and she looked at us and disappeared into the kitchen for the night. (maybe she didn't like my daughter wearing her sleeping beauty dress to her dinner? ;) )

I did mention our disappointment to the hostess that sat us, as we are very frequent Disney guests, and knew this is not the Disney way. The hostess found us as we left in the lobby and gave DD a few carnations to make up for our disappointment. Food was not enjoyed b/c my stomach was in knots from the moment we were seated.
