We might be at Epcot on Thursday 5/5 and I am considering our dinner options. Would you try to get an ADR at one of the restaurants in Mexico, or would you avoid the area? Cinco de Mayo...fun or chaos?

Thanks!

If anything, I'd think it would be fun. I'd go ahead and make the ADR, and if responses to this thread turn you off, you can always cancel.

I say go for it and make the ADRs before people start realizing its Cinco de Mayo and everything gets booked! Like @richmo said, it will most likely be really fun! IMO I really like both TS restaurants in Mexico, my personal favorite though is San Angel Inn, there is something about the ambiance that makes it special and during my last visit I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality, they have definitely upped their game in recent years.

I"m pretty sure we were in Epcot on Cinco de Mayo last year and it wasn't any crazier than any other day we were there that week.

I would get an ADR & then just expect it to be crowded like every other mexican place on Cinco de Mayo is (and if it's not happy surprise). At least you'll have a reservation & it will be fun/entertaining I'm sure!

Mexico on Cinco de Mayo really isn't a whole lot different than on Quatro de Mayo, etc.:)

They really don't do a lot "extra" just for that day.

We were in epcot last year for the 5th of may it didn't seem any more crowded then any other day of our trip and I don't remember anything other then a few guest hamming it up with donald

A little to the side of the original topic, but still might be good for some to know: Last year we happened to be at Coronado Springs Resort on May 5th and they had a special parade around the lake. All of the cast members/departments decorated golf carts. It was pretty special. They had music as well.

We were in Epcot May 5th last year, and we did not notice anything unusual about the crowd levels or any special activities in the Mexico Pavilion.

While I can't say I ever saw anything special at Epcot for Cinco de Mayo, we were there on Norwegian Constitution Day one year, and it was fun to watch. The Norway pavilion CMs were walking around in a line and chanting, the leader wrapped in the Norwegian flag.

They also had CMs outside the pavilion painting Norwegian flags on people's faces. I remember our daughter got one.
