Cinch Bags for Disneyland

After a few years of carrying a backpack with all the grandkids needs for the day I wised up.
A trip to the fabric store for Disney fabric and supplies for their very own cinch bag.

Each bag is about 14" wide and 18" long. I felt that would hold their goods for the day.
The black nylon is sewn over the top of the Disney fabric. A zipper provides a nice secure place for glasses, money or even a cell phone that is separate from the main body of the bag. The nylon is water resistant and adds durability to the bottom of the bag.

I went with 3/8" cotton cord for cinching. I felt it would be more comfortable when wearing on a long day in the parks.

Easy to wear all day and easy to stow when you hop on your favorite ride in the parks.

How cute! I'd love to make something like these one day, just need the sewing skills to make something that would withstand a day in the parks. I'm not so good with zippers yet and I've never worked with nylon.

I use something different depending on how long I'm in the parks, but usually canvas tote bags or small purses.

I don't have the skills for that either. I really like the zipper pouch. I got a cinch bag from the DIS booth at the D23 Expo, and that is what I take now for my bottled water, etc. I also have a magnetic waist pouch that I got from the Running Buddy site (http://www.therunningbuddy.com/index.php) to carry my iphone. I hate purses that weigh my shoulder down, and find that these two items are both light and easy to carry through the parks. If I need to carry a jacket or something I'll take a satchel that goes across the body or my backpack. It's rare I'll take a purse.

Wow! What an awesome job! I would love to have one. Hopefully they all appreciate your craftiness!

Those are adorable, Geemo! I would also enjoy having one and love the zippered compartment. I have never seen (except today at CVS for $3.99 red and black) that type of bag with a zipper section. I got my un zippered one from ABC Mart and also have a second cinch bag from Hobby Lobby. I also have a waist pack from ABC. Lol, I don't even sew a button so would have no clue how to make a bag. kudos to you and what a cool, gift also for your grandkids, made with love for them. :)

Those are really cute! I used a Nestle Baby Club backpack that I got from a garage sale.

They come from some club where you sign up and get a backpack full of freebies.

It was really great, it had the outside pocket that a standard water bottle or my camelbak could fit in and plenty of room inside for the necessities and I even managed to pack around lunch in it. It's probably about the same size as your cinch packs, which is really the perfect size.

Those are very cute and practical. I bought one at DL last year because I only carry a small cross body. We were on our last day and I was finding more things to buy (who doesn't?) and I couldn't send things to the hotel for pick up as we were leaving next day. It really came in handy to tuck purchases in until we took a break and went back to the room!!

Used it again last May since we were in our RV. Put purchases in it and made a couple of trips to a rented locker to offload. Much easier than toting around stuff in their plastic shopping bags or waiting til the last 1/2 hour to shop!

Those are so cute! We have started using cinch sacks instead of backpacks in the parks. It is so much cooler on your back. We like the Adidas Alliance II because it has a soft fabric lined zippered pocket on the back, and two water bottle pockets on the outside. The cords are nice and thick too, so they don't cut into your shoulders.

Those are so nice! I purchased a cinch bag at disneyland. It worked very well until the first strong breeze came by and it fell apart. Seriously the ones sold by Disney were so shoddy. They are so wonderfully handy (especially getting on and off rides). I love that you made your own. Definitely a wise choice.

I really like those! Our trip 3 years ago I brought a cinch backpack and it broke, so I ended up buying one from the Emporium that is very similar in style to yours (front pocket) and I have used it every trip since. I don't care one bit that it says 2012 ;) You are very talented!

I use a similar cinch bag that I bought at DL in the Pirates store. It a grey canvas exterior with a completely waterproof inner liner. Even when caught in a pouring rain storm, nothing inside my bag got wet, despite the outside being soaked. I love it so much I even bought a 2nd one on my last trip. I figure someday it will wear out & I'll need a spare.

I use the Adidas Alliance II also because of the lined zipper pocket and the water bottle pockets. I saw them at Academy Sports and right away knew it was something that work well in the parks.
