Cider on Board?

Hope they have the ciders on the Fantasy. My husband is celiac and that is what he drinks. Ive come to enjoy them in the summer..much lighter to me than beer. Fingers crossed they have them. Love all the tips from these boards!!:yay:

We also enjoy cider. I have bad allergies, which can be aggravated by beer and wine. Cider doesn't seem to be an issue. Wine can give DH migraines. We do like mixed drinks too though. I think many places are starting to serve cider due to both nasal and food allergies/sensitivities. I have noticed cider becoming very popular here in Austin; I suspect it's partially due to the massive amount of people here who suffer from nasal allergies. I am glad to hear that cider is another option for us.

I am not a beer drinker. I do enjoy a good, craft cider, though, and try not to be a rule-breaker. So, I have a few questions:

1. If I bring a six-pack of 12 oz. cans of cider, would they be considered the same as beer, and thus allowable under the current alcohol policy?

2. I notice that O'Gill's has Strongbow on draught. While not my favorite, it's definitely better than Woodchuck or Angry Orchard. Is it served anywhere else, or only there?

3. Can I use the beer mug deal (22 oz. mug, refilled for the price of a 16 oz.) for the Strongbow?

If they don't consider it to be beer, you can always try to claim it as wine (which would get you 2 cans through). Florida taxes cider like wine instead of beer or liquor.

Rekorderlig Pear cider is definitely on the Dream right now (in 687, to be exact) - but I only remember Strongbow being on the Fantasy.

I know that they had it on draught on the Magic at both the bar on the pool deck and Preludes outside the theatre. I can't recall if they had it on the Fantasy last year - I was mostly drinking whiskey that cruise.

Cider can be either. The determining factor is alcohol content. Anything 7.0% or greater is (technically) apple wine. Anything less is hard cider, in the same class as beer.

I would be fine bringing on 2 750ml bottles of certain ciders, to be treated the same as wine. There are a lot of micro cideries, and quite a few Spanish-style sidras, that come bottled that way.
