I'm wanting to "remodel" my Barbie doll house my dad me when I was little for dd. Any suggestions on what I can use on the roof to make it look like shingles??

How about fine sandpaper? You could cut it in strips with little notches cut out to look like real shingles.

My friend redid her old dollhouse for her DD a couple years ago. She made it look like their house, using actual carpet/vinyl remnants for the floor and painting the walls to match their house. She even scanned a scrap of Tinkerbell wallpaper border from her DD's room, reduced it, and glued it in the dollhouse bedroom. All the kids played with it for about 45 minutes at the birthday party, until her DD finally said "HEY! This looks just like MY room!" :rotfl:

Have fun with your project!

Why not go to a roofing company and ask for scraps or try going to home depot and get a few pieces of the real stuff.

I think the real deal would be too thick and honestly I wouldn't want to have to cut real shingles. We have actually reshingled our house ourselves (well DH did) and seeing how tough they are to cut I don't think I'm up to such detail cutting of that material.

Look for a store that sells dollhouse supplies. They have sheets of molded plastic that looks like all forms of roofing. You can paint it however you like. Just an idea.

I never imagined there would be a product made for this. I will definitely check into that. Thanks :)
