Christmas Wrapping, How Does Yours Get Done?

I discovered a new way to wrap a couple of years ago.

My washer and dryer are side by side and a perfect height to stand and wrap gifts! DH and I work at the same time and he sits on the floor with a pile of gifts and I stand at the washer and dryer. We play Christmas music and drink eggnog.

I do the wrapping. Planning on doing some of it tomorrow.
So far Ive wrapped only one present - a gift I brought to the gym for a swap.

I wrap as I buy the gifts. That way I'm not going crazy with hours of wrapping ahead of me.

:lmao: This really cracked me up, Mushy! Nothing says Christmas like hanging around the laundry room. :teeth: Unfortunately, I have a washer/dryer combo so no wrapping there for me.

I do the majority of the wrapping--I lock myself in the bedroom or banish everyone from the family room so I can watch a movie. DH and DD have a blast wrapping my gifts together. But I wrap everything else. Actually, I like wrapping so it's no great hardship but, you know, I like them to think it's a big imposition so they appreciate me more. :lmao:

I hate wrapping.....but it must be done...so here's what I do.

First vacuum up all the cat/dog hair from the carpet. Sit down on the floor in front of the tv and drag everything out. Go into the kitchen and make me some coffee with Baileys in it. Can't wrap without a drink!! Go back in the living room and search for the scissors and tape. Wrap a present...try to get the dog/cat hair OFF the tape!! Start to wrap another present....WHERE ARE THE SCISSORS??? I just had them!!! Find the scissors....get more dog/cat hair off the tape.....oh yeah....I love wrapping!!!!

I love wrapping Christmas presents!! I do!!!! :cool1:

I do most of the wrapping either while the kids are in school or at night after they are in bed.
Sometimes DH will help but it seems to take longer when he assists. He needs to learn the 'measure twice, cut once' theory of wrapping paper. He always under cuts the paper!! We waste more paper when he helps out!! :sad2:

I am really particular about what kind of paper I use too. I like lots of different kinds and they HAVE to be really nice, thick paper. None of that cheap stuff that rips easily as you wrap it. Like the stuff that has characters on it. No more character paper here, the stuff drives me crazy.

And I love putting bows and tags and also nice wire edged ribbon bows on presents too.

Wrapping and placing the presents under the tree are as much a part of the whole Christmas tradition to me as anything else.

Except for the presents that DH buys me, I do it all. I like doing it, though. I was talking to my brother today and he told me that my SIL knew what she was getting for Christmas and started wrapping her own presents. :confused3 I'm not sure what the point of wrapping your own presents is. He did make her stop and finished wrapping them himself.

I've had to do mine in the past also. DH puts them in unmarked boxes first though so I can't tell what they are.

I do it all, always did. I end up staying up to all hours of the night wrapping. See, my mom was really good at it, so I have to make at least an effort. :teeth:

The one good thing about not having a whole lot of money, I get to sleep earlier. :thumbsup2

I lock myself into my bedroom a few nights before Christmas and wrap it all myself, then hide it in my bathroom til Christmas morning. One thing that I have started doing(because the kids get up REAL early Christmas morning and dig around the tree for gifts with their name on it) is I wrap their gifts in different themes. Example-DS 12 gets wrapping papper with Santa on it-can be different colors and patterns but his has santa somewhere on the paper. DS 6 gets snowmen wrapping paper and DD4 gets princess or teddy bears. I switch themes each year to throw them off. They don't have a clue as to who gets what gifts. The anticipation makes them that much more excited! :hyper:
