Christmas week without special season list?

We are hoping to spend the week after Christmas (but not Christmas itself) in WDW in 2002. Is it possible to get a room for that week without getting on the special seasons list? We don't have our hearts set on any particular resort or type of room. Our home resorts are Old Key West and Baordwalk.

Difficult but not impossible. You never know until you call and you will probably have to wait list it for a few months. The "problem" night will probably be 12/31. You might want to have a "backup" reservation in case you aren't able to get all your nights.

The past few years, the SPPL did not fill the resorts and there were reservations available with normal home resort priorities. Some dates may be scarce, but you'll never know until you call.
Actually, you should just call now and get on the list- that will certainly improve your chances! Good Luck!

We are going 12/29-1/2. We went 2 years ago then also. I wasn't on the SSPL either time. You should call right away though. You will probably have to get on a waiting list. I haven't had any trouble. Just a few busy signals and preferred instead of standard (at BW). Good Luck.

When do they start taking names on the lists?

You may ask to be placed on the list at any time. They are still accepting names for the 2002 list (2001 has already been completed) and the list will be contacted in late Oct/early Nov to make reservations for 2002. The reservations available right now are for this season and it's nice to hear there are still rooms available.

Last April, we called for reservations from 12/26 thru 1/2. We immediately got 12/26 thru 12/30, got on the list (and eventially got 12/31). We paid cash for 1/1 and 1/2. Be flexible, don't be afraid to move from OKW to BDV or WLV, get on a the wait list and back up your plan with cash reservations. Godd luck, WDW is even more magical during Christmas season.

thepoohbear, if you don't mind me asking, why don't you just put yourself on the sspl??

I don't mind. :) I thought that if I put myself on the list, they would call me for the next available season, whether that was Christmas this year, or Easter next year. I didn't realize I could put myself on a list specifically for Christmas 2002 and I didn't want to take up room and stand in the way of people still hoping for this year. Now that I know I think I'll put a call in on Tuesday. I guess it's a good thing I asked!

Currently, the SSPL includes ONLY the period from Dec 24-31. A reservation which includes any of those days (even 1) is eligible for the list. Easter has never been part of the list.
