You should be able to reserve your home resort for 12/26 to 12/30 if you call right when the 11-month window opens...while some resorts (BCV, WLV) "sell out" quickly, they shouldn't be completely gone on the first day available to book!
Even super hard-to-get reservations (e.g., concierge at AKV) have a decent shot at being available if you call when MS opens on the day the 11-month window opens...
The seven-month window, however, is riskier...the week between Christmas & New Year's is the busiest time at Disney (including
DVC, which sometimes has different "busy" periods from WDW generally)...there's always a chance, but your odds get better in bigger resorts like SSR, OKW & AKV...one-bedroom's tend to take longer to "sell out" than studios or two-bedrooms...
But people do make plans 11 months out and then have to cancel, and as DVC builds and declares new units into inventory, reservations options open up. So it's not "hopeless." But it could take some luck, depending on which resort, which size villa, and how flexible you are (i.e., if you'd be willing to do a split stay)...
