Is or has anyone gone to WDW the week between Christmas and New Years and rented a car? I'd like to compare rental prices. I just priced car rental for one week with Entertainment coupon and Priceless code and the lowest I could find was an intermediate on National Emerald Aisle for $400 a week. :sad2: Unfortunately this is the only week everyone in our family will have free for a vacation this year. I have seen Disney at Christmas but no one else in my family has and we thought it would be nice to fly down and look at all the Christmas decorations, etc. I know there will be large crowds but we usually go in July so we are somewhat used to crowds. I'm also used to getting a car for about $150 a week or less during July by watching this board. :goodvibes

We're there 11/27-12/3 and I came up with approximately the same price. Ouch! I'm hoping the prices drop as the year goes on or else we will probably use a towncar service.

Mini vans in 2003/2004 were running $500 per week or more

Same thing happened last week for our Easter trip. We ended up renting a van from the airport for one day and doing the same on our return...only ended up spending $150 instead of $450.....But we were flying out of Tampa...I think I'll try the Magical Express next time to try and save the money...

We wouldn't rent a car at all except we are going to visit relatives one day and also take a day to do some other sightseeing. We will also probably be flying in to Tampa because flight times are so much better.

Don't think you will see many deals for that time of year. They know lots of folks need cars so they can get those prices.

We rented a mini-van through Thrifty for 11 days last Christmas through New Years. We paid $350 with all taxes. Thrifty had a special code that was listed on Mousesavers but it was only good on mini-vans and economy cars. We made the price even better by using two free day coupons that took another $75 off (final total $275). Even the girl at the counter told my DH that she had never seen a price that good and that the mini-vans were now running $700/week

Keep looking every day! We were there at XMAS last year, and part of our group was able to use the Thrifty deal that the previous poster mentioned. I was also able to make a reasonably priced reservation with National in May, but it went up and stayed up shortly after that. I'd say to book the lowest you can find right now, but keep looking and rebook quickly if you see anything lower.

The one time I was there over Christmas I wound up renting the care before we went on the cruise and leaving it parked at the port. Even with paying for the extra days and the parking it was cheaper then the Christmas week rates. Lots of the "codes" expired that year around the 18th or so!

We were there over Christmas as well 2004 and were able to use the Thrifty code (now expired). We only paid 79US plus taxes and fees per week It was a fabulous price.

I am new to renting cars but I have found that watching the www.mousesavers.com web site weekly and trying any new codes will help you find a decent rate. It takes some time to try all the different codes and car rental agencies but the results are worth it.

Good luck

We used priceline for a rental from 12/26/03- 1/08/04- got Hertz for $19 day (full size car). I hadn't found anything even close to that prior. I think we booked in Sept.

No bargains to be had over Christmas. We have been going to Florida for Christmas for the past 10 years. You have already gotten the best advise. Book something now to fall back on and keep looking. I got National 12/23-1/2 full size for 319 with tax. I figure on paying about 225-250 per week for a full size before tax. I used mousesavers code for Amex members.

Good luck bargains of any kind are hard to find over the holiday :goodvibes
