Christmas Tree-topper

I have been unhappy with every tree-topper I've ever had for my Christmas trees. Early on, I had an angel who held "candles". She finally stopped lighting up (she wasn't that pretty, so it didn't bother me.) I had a homemade angel that I got at a craft fair for a while. But she has no lights and I like angels that light up. I had Mickey, the Bandleader, one year but he fell off the tree and shattered when we undecorated. I now have the newest Minnie, the angel - with wings that light around the edges. But she's so small (but heavy!) she's hard to see up there. I have a beautiful Lladro angel that I dare not place on top of the tree, considering what happened to Mickey.

So what do you have on top of your tree? I need some suggestions!

This is the first year we've had an angel. Up until now, we used a big gold bow that I made with the Easy Bowmaker (As Seen On TV :rotfl: ). It kept getting squished, so I finally bought something on clearance last year. She's pretty, but she ain't all that!

My Disney tree in the dining room has a Minnie Mouse holding a star (from last year's Disneyshopping.com) that's supposed to have a lightbulb behind it, except the darned thing weighs about 35 lbs. HELP! Minnie's fallen and she can't get up! :lmao:

We just have a multicolored star that lights up when it's plugged in. Nothing too fancy. :)

We have a very "country" sort of angel. No lights, kind of a beige eyelet gown, quilted wings, just hair, no face, puffy sleeves, and her hands are holding a flower. This angel is mostly cream colored, with the exception of the flower (light pink) and the jute hair.

We actually keep this angel out all year long on our fireplace mantel - except when it tops our tree.

A squirrel.

There's a story behind it, though.........! A couple, actually... DD and I are big movie fans... all year long.. we watch the same ones over and over; 'specially ones of the 40's and 50's.. and some of 60's era movies... Starting at Thanksgiving, with "Miracle on 34th Street" we run thru all Christmas movies.. and one big favorite is "Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase with the infamous "squirrel in the christmas tree." DH loves that movie too.. and would always bring it in to work, (he works for the Fire Dept) when he was on the night shift on or near Christmas for his crew. So, one reason for Squirrel to be on top of the tree. But.. Squirrel only came to live with us 11 years ago when my daughter was 16.. when she took her road test for her driver's license. She had pulled out onto the street during the test..and a squirrel ran out into the road and she stopped for the squirrel and waited for him to scurry to the side safely. The DMV examiner made a comment about, "you didn't want to hurt the squirrel?" And she said, "no," and he made no further comment til the end of the test. She passed and got her license; and the examiner told her that he'd noticed she'd made a quick check in the rear view mirror and there was no one behind her and braked evenly and was going at a slow speed..and showed she had quick reflexes to see the squirrel; and he loved animals too. And so... "Squirrel" (in puppet form which turned out to be perfect for a tree topper which we had never intended initially) appeared one morning at her breakfast setting with a "congratulations, new driver" card.

I bought this angel right after 9/11:

I've thought about going a different direction, but now she just means too much.

I have Tinkerbell on top of the tree and she looks so pretty up there!

we have a beautiful bird made out of palm leaf fronds which we bought from a craftsman that was making them at the mallory square sunset gathering at key west,it is ideal as it has a long three piece tail which trails down the tree!

A gold five-pointed star--made of brass. I bought it last year at Crate & Barrel. The star isn't attached to a cone, you actually slide the topmost branch into the star itself. It doesn't have decorations or lights on it. Just very simple and perfect; exactly what I was looking for.

Fiber optic Tinkerbell here. She was a birthday present a couple of years ago. UPS actually delivered her right before we left to go get our tree! :thumbsup2

We just ordered a new one as we have never found one we can stick with. We ordered a tinkerbell one from disneyshopping.

OMG... the Christmas squirrel :rotfl2:

We have a fiberoptic angel that I got at Walmart last year... she is absolutely beautiful (and only cost about $15). We had another one from when I was little and I cried when my mom didn't put her up anymore. She gave her to me but she has completely fallen apart. Actually, it looks like her face has been eaten away

I have angels on both of my trees.

On lights up, and the other does not.

My 8 years old DD picked out one, and she will get that when she moves out someday (if she wants it)

My other angel will go to my other DD someday (if she wants it)

We have 2 tree toppers that we alternate:

Santa on a Moon DS picked it out when he was 2 :confused3 - no angel or star for him

and A light up Star - DD picked out when she was 2.

Before that our tree was topless :rotfl:

Have you ever seen A Christmas Story? Do you remember the really tacky star they had on their tree? You know....the tin foil one with the lights all in it? Ours looks like that one only smaller b/c we have a tabletop tree. We've decided that the tacky little star will have to be on our Christmas tree forever! Even when we move into a house and have room for a regular sized tree, the tacky little star will be hiding on it somewhere. :teeth:

We have a star that lights up.

I love our angel because she is unique and fits our family. Our kids were adopted from South Korea. I found a Korean Christmas Tree Angel, wearing a pretty hanbok, the traditional Korean dress for formal occasions. I'll try to get a good picture of it later.

If I didn't have this angel, I'd probably look for a Disney topper of some kind.

We have an all white old world Santa topper. We've had him for about 10 years. Before that, we had a star that lite up, I hated it. I would love to get another topper, to alternate, but nothing has struck my fancy.

We have Mickey hanging on to a gold star. He is such a pain to get up there and get him situated. Why do they make tree toppers so heavy? :confused3
