Hi:

I just read that if you are staying in a WDW Resort at Christmas time, for a fee, guests can get a fully decorated Christmas tree in their hotel room.
Has anyone heard anything about this and if so how much would it cost and who would you contact?
My sister and I will be in WDW at Christmas time this year and I think it would be wonderful to have a Christmas tree in our room.

Thanks for your help,

BarbaraK

I've never done this myself but I know someone who was looking into it at one point. I'll send this off to them and hopefully they can help :)

I don't know about getting the fully decorated tree... But we've gone around Christmas time and many DVC members have talked about getting a fully lighted tree (I think it was fiberoptic) for about $20 from a local Michael's and then getting a couple packs of ornaments, or buying a few as souviners and using them and taking them home.

here's the deal.....you can get about a 4-6' tree delieved to your room by WDW Florists...last I knew....entry price started at $200+

an alternative suggestion....(I've done this) simply UPS 2nd day ship yourself a small "table top" sized (artifical) tree that you can get anywhere for $10 or some...put some lights on it...and if you don't put more decorations on it...you can always buy some really neat ones in the parks or at DTD.

Hope this helps :)

Yep...GP is right. I was there this past Christmas and wanted a tree in our room when we got there. WDW Florist will do it...tabletop tree in the 200.00 range...fully decorated and they will ship it "home" for you (included in the cost). A bigger tree...6 feet...five hundred dollars. If you do decide to go this route, call them early...they do sell out. GP's alternate suggestions were great!
Enjoy!! There is nothing more magical than a Disney christmas!!!

I bought a cute table top tree at Target and put that in our room last Christmas.
I'll decorate it a little more this Christmas. Having the tree lit up, and lights on the balcony, added a special touch to the holiday.

I'm going to use a Mickey antennae topper as my tree topper.;)

We ordered the Christmas tree this past Christmas. After tax, it was $220. We got the 3 ft tree. It's a fiber optic and decorated with Disney themed ornaments. We were very pleased with it.

As for shipping home....

The resort you are staying at can ship it back but it's not included in the price of the tree. The tree is delivered to your room in it's original box and you must save the box to ship it home. It cost us about $17 with insurance. We were told at guest services just to bring the tree down in it's box and they would "prepare" it for shipping.

WARNING!!! Preparing it for shipping consists of taping the box shut and affixing the address labels. When the tree arrived, one side of the box was completely crushed in. The tree "survived" but quite a few of the ornaments were broken. There wasn't any kind of protective packing whatsoever. It was just as it had been when we took it down to the desk to have it shipped, no peanuts, no padding...nothing.

I called WDW about this, but according to them they contract UPS to pack and ship, so it was UPS's responsibility to take care of the problem. UPS says that the only thing they'll do is refund the cost of the tree, no partial compensation. We didn't want to lose the entire tree as it was a keepsake, so we just ate the loss on the ornaments.

So, we loved the tree, but shipping it home is a real problem. If you do order one, I'd be sure and figure out how to get it home safely first.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question about a Christmas tree in our hotel room.
