Christmas thread for girls 6-10

Agree it is a hard range but also because the maturity level can vary so much! There could be a 10YO who still loves to play with dolls and a 6YO who just isn't into them. DD (8) is not into dolls so that takes out a huge chunk. Her #1 ask is an iPad and I flat out told her no, that I believe if she wants an iPad, she needs to save at least half the money herself and earn her way toward it, given it is a fun item but very expensive. I think next year we might get her a chrome book though so she can do her homework on there. For this year, her big gift is a drum kit (used -- still so happy about the deal I got!) and she and her brother get to share the xbox rock band game we got off eBay. Some other things she has either asked for, we've put on her list, or I already have stashed away (and includes stuff from us, Santa, and likely relatives):
* smencils (fantastic stocking stuffer)
* emoji pillow (she wants the love one)
* Disney ToT Clue game (got that a couple years ago about half off)
* books: Roald Dahl book set, Dork Diaries (she loves those), Bunnicula, American Girl kind of self help (What to Say, friend book, Care and Keeping of You, etc.)
* movies: Minion movie, Princess Diaries, Halloweentown original, Descendants
* music: she's thinking about the Descendants CD
* light up drum sticks
* clothes: I have a descendants sweatshirt for her and Little Miss Matched catalog just came and will probably get her a couple things from there along with a Broncos t-shirt.
* posters, primarily Harry Potter ones (she's been slowly putting up posters since we took down the generic princess wall stuff)
* sewing kit
* parachute pig
* craft kit (she will share this with her brother)
* fun socks (I use these in the stocking)
* ornament (a Harry Potter one :) )
* Shopkins jewelry ones
* boogie board tablet
* maybe a spooner board, she's not sure
* wiki stix (stocking stuffer)
* story cubes (stocking stuffer, though may go to her brother -- I have to assess at the end)
* probably a new winter hat, new gloves
* bulgey eye pens -- got a set at Costco and I'm breaking it up so I can give them to nieces and nephews too

Dd1 is 7. She has told me that her big wants are "anything Descendants". Since she has the movie, that means the costumes or the dolls. She still loves duct tape &other craft items. Also Lego sets, especially the new rock star Friends sets.

I have 2 nieces, aged 8&9. The older of the two wants makeup, clothes, old lady purses. The younger of the two is more immature than DD1. So, I usually look at what DD wants & buy something similar.

Mine will be 10 in February. She isn't into dolls or arts/crafts stuff much. She wants beanie boos, iTunes gift cards and an iPhone (not happening!).

I did already decide what I'm getting her as I ordered it last week. She's getting new bedroom furniture including a twin over full bunk bed. She's mentioned wanting a new mattress so she's getting a new one for her set. I don't usually spend anywhere near that on Christmas but this set will last her for a long time. She's outgrown her current set and I can hand it down to my niece who will love it.

Bumping this up for anymore ideas
My DD 7 so far wants Shopkins, Legos, a Zippie sack, Descendants movie, kids bop cd & Build a Bear clothes. So far I purchased a cool Mickey 3D puzzle & Shopkins. She also said no more Elsa & Anna stuff!

My 9 year old DD is getting a new Kindle Fire, a case for the Fire, a deluxe Spirograph set, all 3 of the Shopkins shoppie dolls and the 40 piece Shopkins Target exclusive set. She is also receiving clothes and some clothes for her American Girl dolls.

This is an age range that maybe Better broken up into 6-7 and 9-10 with 8 leaning either way:)
I would never punish myself with a kids bop CD. My kids also wouldn't fall for it, lol.
My 8 year old is getting Goldiblocks, magformers, and a microscope for sure. Also will be getting at least one Barbie and an American Girl from Grandma. Her top item on her list is an art set.
She has several of the bird little live pets from last Christmas and still plays with them pretty often. The turtles look even more fun to me!
I will buy a couple of wiiU games for all the kids to share. I am going to Disney with my mom before Christmas so I will bring back some things from there.
The kids will also be getting the game PieFace. It should be a blast!

@kawc1945 - I actually assigned that present to my parents. I think my Dad said he was looking at Samsonite and American Tourister. She's going to get one piece (likely the roller/carry on) now and then another piece for her next birthday and so on...

If I hear him mention other brands, I will certainly post back.

@mi*vida*loca - I heard this one as well. But, I was unhappy as well. That's why I'm leaning toward a motorized scooter. Not that it's too much better, but maybe a little...

Just a warning... check your local laws before buying your child a motorized scooter. A friend's mom bought her two kids motorized scooters for Christmas a few years ago. They were escorted home by a police officer who informed us that they needed to have a license to drive them. They were then locked up and never touched again. We had no clue that it wasn't allowed.

My DD turns 6 in December. She loves getting the Shopkins but rarely actually plays with them. She's very into her Elves Legos and wants a bow and arrow set. I'm also doing my own board game of the month type thing for her and we are ordering a Little Passports subscription for her. I'm thinking a marble run too. Going to Toys R Us today to scope out what's what.

I have a 10yr DD. She is still very into dolls. She wants an American girl doll and accessories. She wants a Monster high or an Everafter high doll She wants a lala loopsy girl doll, Star darling doll, Diary of a Wimpy kid book, emoji socks or shirt and Ugg boots.

My daughter is 6, and I have no idea what Shopkins are! Should I be happy about that? ;)

She wants books, a Ripstick or some other type of skateboard, and art supplies. I'll also probably get her a few stuffed animals and some clothing, and I have an American Girl doll I got on Jills Deals and Steals about 6 months ago and held back for her.

For the older end of this range, check out the 39 Clues book set. There is also an interactive website if you choose to use the cards, but just reading the books is good too. My DS9 and I are reading them together and really enjoy them and the main characters are a brother and sister so it works well for boys and girls. I just recommended them to a co-worker who has almost 8 year old twin girls. She is really struggling with them this year because they have kind of outgrown the "toys/dolls" age this year.

For the lower end of the range, we're still firmly in the princess camp. Dolls, dress-up, etc. Also American Girl. And lots of books! I have no idea what the Shopkins is that folks are talking about.

But the top thing on her list is Disney Infinity 3.0. And she loves playing with Super Mario Maker that big brother got for his birthday.

My DD6 asked for a science kit to make a volcano (she saw one in a catalog) but I am not paying $15-$20 for a plastic tube and some plaster tape, so I'm going to put one together myself. She's also getting a marble run and a Goldie Blox set so far. And she'll probably get a Lego set (maybe one of the new Elves ones), some board games, and some clothes and pajamas. She's not into dolls so that makes it a bit more difficult to come up with ideas since so many of the toys for her age are dolls or doll-like. She may get a set of superhero My Little Ponies that Target has as a joint gift with her younger sister, since they both like Ponies.
