I am so happy that my months of planning payed off!! I am sorry this is long but I just have to share with you how I was able to surprise my kids ages 16, 12 and 3 on Christmas. It took every fiber of my being not to tell them before Christmas Day but it was well worth it!
I bought two of the largest box I could at staples and I cut on to be a lid for the second one.
I wrapped both separately so that it would be easy for the kids to lift the lid off. The lid was in green shinny paper with red ribbon and a big red bow and the bottom was in green Winnie the pooh paper.
Inside I place 2 reusable bags I bought from Disney, my oldest got the I mickey NY (she will be going to NY with school this year) my middle got a tinker bell bag and my youngest was a toy story bag. I filled them with wrapped gifts for the trip. Such as sneakers, travel pillows card games, travel soap kits, lanyards with pins and more for the older ones and DS games, crayons, coloring books and more for the little one.
I also had a big 27" Mickey holding a GPS a wrapped GPS for my husband (he did not know about that part LOL) all the mail that had come so far and the Disney planning DVD. I rolled all the reservation information with dates and highlight paid in full, since I know my 12 YO would have asked me that LOL. I also had the dining reservation date and times and menus. I tied it up with the red ribbon and placed carefully in Mickey's hand.
I bought 3 mylar star balloons and wrote "YOU'RE" on one "GOING 2" one the second one "DISNEY" on the last balloon and tied each one to one of the reusable bags.
I also had bought each of the oldest ones a calender with the days counted down from 49-1 on them. The oldest got a rolling duffle bag and the little one got a fisher price camera which I placed all of these wrapped around the BIG box.
On Christmas morning I told them to open the big box first as I video taped them, you could hear the excitement in my voice. I had the oldest one hold her little brother and my 12 year old lift the lid the balloons flew up and they read: "you're going to Disney!!" WHEN?? I told them to look in the box.... That is when they found out it would be on February for my oldest ones 17th birthday! The screams started and now every day my 3 yo asked if we are going today LOL.
My girls will tell you by far this is the best christmas ever!!!
