Christmas Shopping '09

Love this thread although I just found it tonight!

Christmas is my fav time of year & Holiday!! :santa:

I have actually started shopping this year back in September!!

My Son, Hunter is 8 yrs old....loves ANY Video Game system...Legos ( his fav are Bionicles)..just boy stuff is what he is into. My DH had to buy him another 4wheeler this year....I said no but what does Mom know...right?!? We got him a PS3 already and a new Bionicle....so.....I've got to start working on my list and get busy.

My Daughter, Ashlynn is 3 yrs old and is soooo easy to buy for! Anything girly...dolls, barbies, DISNEY stuff..mainly Princesses...she loves it all!!! Poor thing...all I have for her is a Snow White barbie doll like...she loves clothes too so that's easy too!

And the great weather that we finally got down here in Texas is making it feel like the holiday spirit....love it!!

Hey girl!!!! I am your next door neighbor!! Ha!!!(In Texas terms!) I am about an hour NE of you!!! I Loooooove this wonderful weather we got today!! Thursday almost killed me!!!! That humidity was unbearable!!!! Your list sounds great so far...glad you found us!

I love this thread!!!

I am taking my two DS (ages 9 and 6) to TRU today so that they can begin making their Christmas lists. I love doing this every year because then I compile lists for myself and DH and then give ideas to their grandparents too.

My plan for this year is to be done with all of my shopping before we leave December 12th for our DW and cruise trip!!!

Thanks so much for starting this thread as it will keep me motivated to do so!

Yep!! This weather for us Texans is GREAT....it beats the humidity any day!!

I think you can get a $5 off any animal coupon if you sign up for their Stuff Fur Stuff club.

I got a 20% off an animal coupon for BaB from the Rachel Ray website. The link was here on the DIS somewhere. Do a search... (Sorry I cannot remember exactly where it came from!)

Yes I would try Target. They have nice beddings in bright colors.
As for gifts does she like the peace sign on clothes? I just got dd(10) a pajama set and a throw from Justice and i also got her a duffle bag with the peace signs all over it. DD has asked for clothes, Allstar tennis shoes and earrings.

If you have TJMaxx/Homegoods or Marshall's in your area they have really cute bedding too and the prices are great. It is hit or miss and sometimes you have to dig, but it is worth it.

Making progress...........................................................although I have to say I never thought about the baking stuff. Must remember to check out the coupons in today's paper and start stocking up. A baking list might help first though. Hmmmm.

Oh, question, since this will be my first hosting of Cmas dinner, what is a good price on a turkey? I want to keep my eyes open since I'll need a big one! Thx.

What kind of turkey- fresh, frozen, free range, local farm, roasted from the Dutch Market, deep fried, smoked...:confused3lol Near Christmas and Thanksgiving they usually sale frozen turkey really cheap (I think last year I saw them advertised for around 49 cents a pound) Unfortunately, I prefer the more expensive choices. :rolleyes1 I usually splurge on the turkey. This will be the first year in a long long time that I don't do a big Thanksgiving here. We are going to brother's for Thanksgiving on the that Tuesday and going to the movies and eating pizza on the actual Thanksgiving. :rotfl2:LOL

Does brother not cook? Heehee. A frozen turkey. Butterball or whatever. That's what I meant :)

:rotfl2:oops I should have said we are eating Thanksgiving meal on Tuesday of that week. We will be back home on Thanksgiving but due to our Disney weight loss goals we can not eat two Thanksgiving meals in one week:scared1:

Keep your eye on sale fliers as time gets close. Frozen turkeys get so cheap some people buy a few. Just make sure to buy it in enough time to thaw.

Since we are doing movies on Thanksgiving I am thinking of doing a later one (probably Disney's Christmas Carol):3dglasses to be in the mall when they open. Last year they opened at midnight with give-aways throughout the night. I can never get up earlier enough to get to the after Thanksgiving sales but I can stay up all night.:banana:

I am waiting for my rebate check from Costco. That is when I finish most of my shopping.:yay:

Best of luck to you!

I really appreciate all of the great ideas! He loves Sudoko, so I will look for some books at the dollar store! He does read, but is very picky (hard to chose for) but I did get him a subscription to Sports Illustrated! He loves sports and plays baseball and basketball!, I also love the ideas for a lap top case! I also think some gift cards for I tunes and Cariboo coffee will be great! I appreciate all of the ideas! (I think he won't say other things he would like in fear he won't get the laptop, because he knows how costly they are!) I just want him to have some other things to unwrap though!:rotfl:

I picked up a neoprene case at target for $4. You could also get a cool thumb mouse, and a laptop desk (on clearance everywhere right now).

WOW!! Way to do Ladies!!!!:thumbsup2
ya'll are really gettin' after it!!! I am so proud of you all!!!! This is so fun reading all your gifts and ideas. I know with the weather cooling off so much this weekend, it really helps us (down here in the heat!) really be able to get in the shopping mood.So...keep those ideas comin!
I am adding to my list!!! My older son decided a few weeks back to start playing guitar (did I already say that? Sorry if this is a repeat!) so, he now has a few things he wants for Christmas and bday. Which is great....he really couldn't think of much he wanted. Now ds#2 is gonna start also!!! But...he is checking out a smaller size guitar the guy has...in blue...which is his favorite color! Ha!!!! I don't know about that tho....he may just have to use the one my husband has had forever. But...I am glad ds#1 has finally found something that I can look for and not feel like I am buying just so he gets the same amount of stuff. Anyhoo.....that's all at the guitar place down the road, so it'll be super easy to buy and hide at Daddys office!!!:thumbsup2
Ya'll have a super week! Keep those lists handy and eyes peeled for deals!!!

If you have a 5 and below store, they have some really neat items and nothing is over $5.00 ...
sports balls (soccer, football, basketball)
dvds
mp3 accessories
ds accessories
games
candy
nerf (small gun)
LOTS for girls

My boys love going to that store!

Also, my sons have just gotten fish tanks set up in their room. One wants a Petsmart gift card so he can go and pick out his own fish. I thought that was a fantastic idea!

Another "frugal" idea would be to buy a set of marbles ($1.00 store) and then download and print marble games. I used to teach my 3rd graders them, and they LOVED them. It would be cute to put them in a wooden box that could be decorated.

If you are looking for something for a family member and want to find something they probably don't have but will LUUUVVV!

I just got micro-fiber fleece sheets sheets for everyone in our house from Costco (have not seen them before this year). OH MY! They are heavenly! :cloud9:They are so soft, cozy, warm...only problem no one wants to get out of bed. :rotfl2:LOL

They have twin 19.59, quenn 29.49, did not notice king price.

I know some of ya'll (I was born im Mississippi) are in the heat but I think these would feel luxurious no matter the temp. Especially if you use air conditioning.

You look and think..."Blanket sheets?!?" but I am telling you HEAVENLY!
:cloud9:

Great Ideas ladies!!! My middle son loooooves Marbles!!!! He also has some flannel sheets ....won't be long I can put them on...it's gonna be back up to around 80 in a couple of days...so I can't do it just yet!

Hi Christmas shoppers! I haven't checked in for a while but looks like I'm behind compared to the rest of you! I made my list and checked it twice this weekend. My big thing to find is the Leapfrog Tag for DS and the Tag Jr. for DD. Hoping to get them on sale sometime between now and the big day!
