Christmas questions for November

For those you who have been to WDW in November, just curious about a couple of holiday things and if they'll be "out" when we are there from 11/9 - 11/14. My SIL is very interested in seeing the gingerbread display at Grand Floridian. I think I read last year it went up around Thanksgiving so I'm thinking we'll be too early for that. Anyone know the approximate date for that each year?

I also read somewhere that at the Deluxe resorts there are characters in the lobby each night form 6 - 8 during the holidays. Again, just wondering if that is just a December thing when it's very close to Christmas, or do they start this with the holiday decorating timeframe in mid-November?

Thanks!

11/9 - 11/14

1. It may be there, at least the latter part of the trip.
2. Too early for the characters (if there are any characters at the resorts.)
3. MK will be fully decorated by or very near the start of their trip.
Osborne Lights at DHS will be running by or very near the start of their trip.
Resorts will be a work in progress.
Epcot's activities will not begin until Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.

most all of the real christmas decorations at the resorts start during the week of thanksgiving.

your dates are too early. you will see some decorations at the parks but not much else...

(the gingerbread house is iffy since they make some money off the "shingles, but i still think it likely won't be completed by your dates - might be started by the end of your trip.)

Not sure about the characters. Last year the Gingerbread house didn't open until 11/21, but the year before that it was the 16th. If not open, then as PP have said, it may be started by the end of your trip. Some of the decorations and the castle lights ought to be up at MK by the date of the first Christmas Party, which is 11/8, and the Osborne Lights usually start around the same time. So hopefully you should get to see a few things decorated for the holidays!

We normally do our Christmas trip during mid November but last year we visited mid December. The GF gingerbread house will not be on on display yet for your November dates. Last December Mickey & Minnie in their Christmas attire were posing for pictures near the tree in the GF lobby. I have never seen characters do this type if thing in November - sorry. You'll see a lot of Christmas though- MVMCP & Osborne Lights should be in full effect! We have also seen the Animal Kingdom tree when we've been in November. There is also a gingerbread display at the Boardwalk Inn that should be a work in progress during your stay. Have a great trip! :santa:

Will be at GF on the 17th for an ADR. Hoping the Gingerbread house will be early again this year. Really would like to see that.
