My DS is going to WDW on December 3...was wondering if the date for the taping of the Christmas Parade is known yet? I am sure someone can come up with that info for me as the knowledge imparted on the forum has always been enlightening.

If I'm not mistaken, I think it was taped yesterday, November 8th, at Disneyland. They may do some "fill-in" taping at the MK, but I can't find anything on it.

We watched part of the taping last year and it was very boring. They move the parade 6 feet, review the film, back up the parade, move it 6 feet while they tape, stop, review, back up, move forward, tape, again and again. It was a very warm day when they taped last year and I felt sorry for the CM's in the costumes. I heard it took a total of 7 or 8 hours to film. If I had to purchase a one day ticket to the MK just for that, I would have been royally pizzed off. The park was overly crowded, they had a lot of areas closed off for taping, and it was over-all, a big hassle.

You got that right. We thought it would be neat to see the parade tapped some years ago and after about 3 hours and 1/3 of the floats, we just gave up and left. It's so stop and go it's disjointed to the point that it's almost confusing.

its usually the first weekend in dec. I think i saw Dec. 6th, but they usually tape it 2 weekends in case of inclement weather. If you check on the theme parks board, you will see threads for it. i've done the AP holders parade taping and also the DVC member taping for the castle show. If you don't mind being squished in like sardines and peoples kids being shoved in front of you cause they're dressed up like pirates and princesses, then go for it. the castle shoot is in the direct sun and it is brutal and SLOOOOOOW. i know it looks exciting on TV but you're much better off taking advantage of the low lines in the park cause everyone else is at the taping.

Per the Touringplans website, on the crowd calendar blog the WDW parade is due to film on Saturday, December 6. In the past, I believe they tape on two different days "just in case".

Hope to see you on TV!

Thanks for all the input...DS decided that he would not even try to go and avoid the crowds. He is counting the days now...sigh...wish I was going too.

The tentative taping dates are Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 in the Magic Kingdom. Usually, one day is dedicated to filming the actual parade on Main Street, with celebrity hosts on a platform near the train station, and the other is for the musical guests performing on the Cinderella Castle stage.

No word on the performers yet, but one group who won't be in Orlando like last year is Jonas Brothers. Nick, Joe and Kevin taped their spot Saturday at Disneyland in California for the show that airs Dec. 25. (Photo by Paul Hiffmeyer/Disneyland) Apparently, during their performance there was an unexpected electrical problem and subsequent fire, so they sang a spontaneous version of "Burnin' Up." Bet we don't see that on Christmas morning! Corbin Bleu, Ryan Seacrest, Jose Feliciano and some of the dogs from Beverly Hills Chihuahua were reportedly there, too.

Okay..all this information is just ruining it for me. I mean.. I never heard of a parade being taped. :confused3 You mean those entertainers aren't really THERE on Christmas morning..the NERVE of them!

When I think parade, I think Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. :thumbsup2 They show it live mistakes and all. (that's the best part!) Now THAT"s entertainment!
