My kids really want to be at the taping of the Christmas Parade that airs on ABC on Christmas morning. I know it's usually taped around the 1st week of Dec. Does anyone know how to find out when it is and if there's anything special you have to do to be admitted to the park during the taping. This would probably be for Dec. 2007, unless Disney comes up with some kind of great deal for this Dec. Thanks!

Probably not much help here, but if you will keep checking at the the http://www.wdwinfo.com/ site and in the search box at the top right type in MVMCP and then click the Christmas at Walt Disney World link then scroll to the bottom and click the Walt Disney World Highlights link. However it is still showing the 2005 dates and the 2006 dates have not yet been posted. Like I said probably not much help but trying to give you a place to check since no one else has responded yet.

It is usually the first weekend of December. If you are in the park when they are taping you are welcome to participate in the crowd shots. It is a lot of standing and waiting for them to bring one of the floats out. You don't see the entire parade but you may see them redo the same act several times.

It's really easy to get into the taping, it's usually the first weekend in Dec, and as long as your in the park early, and I'm talking like right when it opens, you should be able to get up front. A warning though:: it is verrry boring, they have to reshoot certain segments of the parade, over and over and over again. It is a lot of standing around waiting for them to shoot, so if your kids are younger they might get a lil antsy standing around that whole time. While it is exciting, especially if you are standing at a part where famous people happen to be, it gets very tiring after awhile. Hope this helped!

Like others said, it can get quite boring and you are welcome to stop and watch for awhile but they also will post on their website that you can participate (get a voucher to enter free) by sending in an email (first come first served) and then you enter the park at 7:00a and must be willing to stand there for a few hours. I think that happens in November.

They tape different segments on different days but the float portion is usually that first Saturday in December. One year, due to a snow storm in NYC, they taped the float portion Sunday because Regis and Kelly couldn't get there for Saturday.

Last year we were there for the Friday taping which was the musical guests portion at the Castle front. We got to see Vanessa Williams and John Hurley. I was able to get up pretty close during the Vanessa portion; I was standing next to those who got in free (with the voucher) and were dressed all Christmassy for their participation in the parade taping.

Thanks for the responses! My kids are really hoping to see some of the people that they associate with Disney, like Raven or Dylan and Cole Sprouse. They were disappointed when we went last year and there's nothing in all of WDW related to current Disney Channel hits. You'd think they could come up with some kind of attraction that could be easily updated as shows come and go. I figured the parade might be our best shot at seeing some of the people they wanted to see.

We were there this past christmas and got to see the cheetah girls and Aly & AJ..I'm sure you daughters know who they are. We just happened to be at the right spot at the right time. Pretty cool. But this also how we met most of the celebrities that we have encountered at Dis...Good luck!! I hope your kids get to see someone they like!!

Just keep watching the Disboards, someone will know the dates of the taping. When we went in 2003, I remember reading that they were taping the day we arrived so we were able to miss the parade :woohoo: I heard that it is realllllllly boring watching the same parade over, and over, and OVER. It does take some of the magic out of watching it Christmas day knowing that it really isn't live. That is a good idea someone had to be there to see some of the kids favorite Disney Channel show stars, but not enough for me to stand there that long

I told the girls that they'd have to watch the same stuff over and over because they have to get lots of shots to edit for TV. They said they don't care. After all, they watch the same Disney Channel shows over and over. I keep hoping Disney comes out with a deal so we can go this year instead of next. Or maybe we can go again in April after we get our income tax return, get annual passes, and then go back again in December! Hey, it's a thought, right?
