Christmas parade filming date?

Trying to get an early start on planning my December trip. I want to avoid MK on the day they film the Christmas parade. Anyone know what date they are doing this or have they not announced it yet?

They won't announce until just a few weeks before at best. It is usually done over a couple of days on the first weekend in December, but has been known to be earlier in recent years.

For 2015 and 2016, the tapings for the holiday specials were held in mid-November.

This year's schedule won't be known until sometime closer to November.

The taping won't be held the first weekend in December because the Cast Service Celebration will be held in MK the evening of November 30th so that rules out taping for that weekend.

Is it a bad thing because of how crowded main street will be or do you think it will be a good thing because either most people will try to avoid it and those that want to watch the taping will be trying to save their spots and the rides will be less crowded?
I think we were there a few years back during it and though it was brutal trying to walk through Main Street, I think the rest of the park was fine. Vague memory though.

Yep...I'm at WDW right after Thanksgiving...visiting MK on Tues 11/28 for MVMCP, Weds 11/29 for my B-Day (plus MK staying open late that night) and on Sat Dec 2nd for most of the day before my 8pm flight back home...

Since your visit a few years ago, MK has added a bypass around Main Street. That would be made available if Disney thinks MS gets too busy.
