Looks like my free birthday visit to Disneyland will be on the day they have scheduled to film the Holiday Parade.

Has anyone been in the park when this is being done? I'd assume the crowd level is higher. Did it enhance or detract from your day in the park?

I'm forcing some of my friends to come with me and pay a one day park admission price, so I want to 'spin' this piece of news to them. :lmao:

I'm already bummed because there will be no fireworks that night.

Oh, one more question. I may be in a wheelchair that day (depends on healing in time). I assume there is a special spot for viewing Fantasmic from a wheelchair, but will my friends be able to be with me? There will be six of us total.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thought of another question:

Does anyone know if you are allowed to pay and upgrade your free admission to a park hopper? Being able to head over to DCA would help if it gets nasty crowded. I'd treat my friends to the upgrade cost on their tickets.

NEVERMIND...found the answer to this question on the FAQ thread!

Glad I can upgrade!

Last I heard they had switched it 11/8. Of course they keep changing it so they may switch it back. Here is a thread about it on Mouseplanet:

http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=127310

Some of the people on there have kids dancing in the parade so they have been getting updates through their dance studio.

Thanks for the info, looks like they may have a better handle on the date this Wed...I'll just sit tight till then!

Still would like to hear from people who have been at the park on filming day...in case I need a 'strategy'.

Thanks

Sorry, but I have never been there when they are filming, but I remember reading someone's trip report when they were there on the day of filming. It was very crowded all around main street where the filming was taking place and also by the castle, BUT the rest of the park was very nice with little lines. I remember this because I thought it would be a great day to be at the park if your not interested in the parade festivities! There will probably be roped off areas and moving from one side of Disneyland to another (Tomorrowland to Frontierland), might be difficult, but not impossible!

Anyone hear who might be performing for the parade?

We were there for Miley Cryrus's 16 birthday thing, and it was not a problem, as long as you stayed away from the castle.

If anyone has any info to share, I would be so grateful. I heard Disney Channels stars are usually there. We met them all on our WDW trip last year as they stayed in our hotel. My 4 kids were thrilled. We will be in DL on the
7th, so I would love to hear more info. Thank you much!

no offence to the OP but I hope they keep it on the 7th as my BD is the 8th... and my son's the 9th.

As for the viewing area in a wheelchair - your friends should be able to watch wih you in the area marked for wheelchairs..

Will keep a look out for the date posted and if it happens to fall on my BD will stay away from main street...

I'm sure we'll have great birthdays with Mickey no matter what! :thumbsup2

They are 99% sure they will be filming Sunday too.

So just the dancers on Saturday. At least is sounds like there won't be any big name Disney celebs there to attract more crowds that day anyway. :confused3

My understanding is that they were unsure of which date for the dancers because of scheduling with new celeb talent.

It is rumored to be Miley Cyrus but nothing official has been announced.

Highly unlikely to be Miley as she's in Newark, NJ with her tour on Nov 7th & 8th. Not impossible for her to fly in, do it, and fly out but not very likely.

According to the link above, dancers (from dance studios) will be shot on Saturday. Celebs will be Sunday and Monday.
